The Nash for Lou is a joke from another poster. Clearly that will never happen as Nash is worth more than Lou….

If Lou gets traded it won’t be for much more than picks and or possible prospects, both don’t carry no trade clauses…. As for Lou, he will and I believe has said will waive his NTC.

this trade will be easier than you may think. Lou’s contract is horrid, and that’s why he can be dealt for a low price.

Let’s say it was Columbus and Vancouver.

Someone suggested Nash for Luongo. You’d need the Canucks organization to agree, Columbus to agree, Nash needs to agree to waive his NTC and Luongo to waive his NTC. Say Van, CLB, and Nash all agree to the swap, but Luongo doesn’t want to go there to play. These deals seem inordinately complicated.

I am not even going to guess where he’ll end up or who they’ll ultimately receive for Luongo.

The Leafs can’t possibly start the season with a Clemmensen/Reimer-type goaltending combo, and the Canucks can’t bring Lou back for a variety of reasons (risk of losing Schneider, having $9-plus million tied up in goaltending, the creation of a toxic environment, etc…).

In the end, I imagine Leafs fans will feel like they gave up too much for Lou, and Canucks fans will feel like they didn’t get enough back. One thing that I don’t think will happen: the Canucks taking on a bad contract just to off-load Lou. Leafs fans should stop dreaming of unloading a terrible contract like Komisarek… not happening.

Kane’s case is a little different because he is not under contract past July 1st, but WIN still retains his rights.

Long and short, the people saying that CBJ or VAN or WIN will have to give their stars away for a song are clueless. It is true, however, that possible goaltending markets for Luongo may be limited given his contract. It might be easier for VAN to trade Schneider and sell Lu on staying.
