Not saying he won’t sign there but are you really going to say one trip to the 3rd round 9 years ago (and only 2 playoffs without getting out of round one since then) is going to sway him to sign in Minny?

“Is there any reason a player would want to go to Chitown to play?” UHM MORE THAN MINNESOTA! We have one of the best core group of players in the league, have made the playoffs 4 years in a row, and it is one of the best cities in the midwest. You guys can keep looking through your homer colored goggles that everyone wants to go play in Minnesota even though you guys are not a playoff contender, when teams like Detroit and Chicago are. Seriously get a clue. MANY players, would LOVE to end their career in Chicago. And by the way, Suter grew up a Blackhawk fan, his uncle played for the Hawks and the family continues to have strong ties to the organization, and Chicago is closer to Madison than Minnesota.

You’re calling people here stupid, are you stupid? The alignment of the NHL isn’t changing next year. Detroit will never play in the southeast. If they were to go East (they won’t the NHL doesn’t want to lose them out West) the divisions would be changed probably. Most likely the realignment the NHLPA squashed will probably happen just a year later than planned.

And while Nashville is very likely, but Calgary? HAHA

Mike yeo is not a bad coach when you have to use 40 different players something like that you’re probably not gonna be successful a pietro and suter would be awesome and allow players like Ian Cole to develop but if he goes to minny Itd be ok I’d rather see parise go there though

I’d love to see him in MN, but really who wouldn’t want to play for the Wings.

St.Louis also seems like a good option- it’s a good market, they are more competitive than the Wild, and it’s only a day’s drive away from the Twin Cities.

If he really wants to be in an smaller, more manageable, and more of a typical Midwestern flavor ( extra friendly, more family oriented) than either the Wild or the Blues should be at the top of his list. However, we’re talking about what Suter’s college coach thinks. How much does he really know about what’s important to him? People can change quite a bit in a few years, especially when you become a star player. Money and winning the Cup may be more important to him than a cities atmosphere right now.

Pretty sure he wants to go to a team that can win a cup, that rules out preds and wild. Both of them haven’t even made it past second round. Wings all the way, parise will follow up too.

One of the things Chuck Fletcher touted about Mike Yeo when he came in is that he would hold his players accountable. I think he did that. I never once heard him call out a player by name in the media. He would say things like “our top guys have to play better” or “the defense has to be more responsible.” He handled the Zidlicky fiasco with class by keeping it out of the media. Not sure why you feel he’s terrible.

What your not seeing is how the Wild are set up long term to be a Cup contender. Infusion of top prospects this year, cap money to sign Parise and Suter this summer, cap room the next 2 summers after this summer to sign more high profile free agents. Yeah I couldn’t see why he would want to sign with Minnesota. Maybe instead of being narrow sighted, maybe you should look at the long term out look of the teams, since most free agents who are going to sign a 8-10 year contract might, you know, actually do.

Is everyone following the nhl lately stupid? Suter has said like 3 times right? Detroits in the southeast division next year. Chicago hasnt got the cap space unless they move kane. Flyers are goin after weber and either parise or kessel. Suter will either stay in nashville, sign with either minnesota or an unreported team (calgary).

Can you tell me the x ‘s and o’s on why he would want to come to the Wild? What is so attractive about a coach the bombed the last have of the season? Take off your Wild colored glasses… And PA was playing Yeo’s comments after a game. Will he turn in a good coach? Who knows.. And again with the excuses, every team in the NHL has has injures, not just the Wild.

not happening with either team unless they throw cubic money at him. chicago and detroit are both large cities which is exactly the kind of enviroment his coach said he doesnt want to live in.
St. Louis on the other hand is just a few hours north of nashville, still has the midwest/small town country feel and the team itself is highly competitive.
im sure suter would sign with the blues if the offer was right, question is are the Blues interested in him?

When you lose Backstrom, Bouchard, Latendresse, Koivu, and Setoguchi all to injuries, your team is going to suffer. Lucky Fletcher has added the young prospects so we don’t have to rely on players who have no business playing in the NHL.

Then it comes down to whether he wants more money (Detroit) or wants to be closer to his family & home (Chicago)….
