This seems like a no-brainer from the p.r. side of things for Yzerman. At worst, the Lightning will be only slightly better in net. In this scenario, they didn’t break the bank to get there- and (if I’m not mistaken) Lindback is on the final year of his entry level deal (a pending RFA). It’s an easy one to walk away from if it doesn’t work out, and Helenius could just as easily pan out as well. Nashville did okay on their end: ideally 2nd rounders are 50/50 propositions- If one of the 2 (Nashville actually has 3 now according to their earlier posted draft order) really pans out and Lindback earns a starting gig there then it’s an excellent trade for both sides.

Im thinking Steve Y would be looking for a veteran backup for Andurs, someone who could be his mentor, while the other two goalies get some playing time in the AHL. You develop both young guys in the minors and the vet backup can help Andurs. I think Yzerman got a better deal for both present and future in the goalie position

I think that with a proper number of games and time to settle into a good groove, Lindback can prove to play like a starter.

I agree!

Nothing bad to say about Lindback, but I thought Yzerman would have gone after someone who has a bit more experience like Josh Harding.

I think it’s a great move by both teams and best of luck

I like Lindback, don’t get me wrong, but is he ready yet play and win a lot more games than he has considering his limited success so far? If it was a young team still developing, like the Oilers, they could afford to be patient but if Tampa wants to win, it’s a little bit of a risk.

In the end, it’s a fair number of picks, but they kept both first rounders and didn’t really give up that much, it’s just down to whether it pays off or not.

Expect great things from Anders. We hate to lose him in Nashville but I know it will be a great opportunity for him.

While it’s not a surprise a team went after Lindback, I’m a little surprised Stevie Y didn’t go after someone more likely to succeed right away as a starter. If they expect to platoon the two along with Garon, they’d better have some success or find themselves looking for better help at the deadline.

Remember, this is a team with good young stars plus a number of notable veterans that went to the Eastern Conference finals two years ago. Those veterans won’t stick around forever, so they may have an opportunity to make a solid run for it in the short term, and that means there’s little time to experiment with their goalie situation.

Lindback isn’t very experienced and his numbers don’t really reflect how good he can be as a goaltender. We’ll miss him in Nashville, but I’m glad he’ll get a chance to secure a starter spot for another team in the league.
