Something tells me he’s minutes away from firing his agent……That or he’s the most disillusioned player in the league at the moment. He’s lucky to be playing in the NHL at this point: 3m per is (about) the going rate for average/slightly above average veteran d- and “term” is something granted to 20 year old players, not borderline NHL talent at 35. Best of luck to whoever came up with this idea on Souray’s behalf. (But) It was a mistake.

I’d walk away if I was Dallas. I like Souray (only because he’s so fun to use in NHL with his 99 slapshot power), but it’s not worth giving him a multi year deal at this stage of his career.

Dude has a pretty big ego to turn down 3 million after being an AHLer in the midst of his prime; I don’t care if he had one decent year after the fact, the fact remains that he was down there because even Edmonton didn’t want him on their team.
