I did not think it was possible for a human being to sink to such depths of stupidity. Simmonds, a guy who averaged a fight every eight games now qualifies as a goon. The only person who is clueless here is you. You have done nothing to back your statement about the Flyers being a better team with Richards and Carter. I have brought logic based intelligent observations and statistics. You have brought nothing- to the point where you could probably get a patent empty thinking. The only conclusion I can come to is that you miss Carter and Richards because they are so cute. How dare Couturier skate around with that gap in his mouth or Voracek try and bring back that ancient dated Norwegian look. I can see why you are so pissed. And don't be hating on Wawa employees, it is not their fault that the company would not hire you. Jealousy is not very becoming.

Wow, you are so stupid you have no idea how dumb your are. They got virtually nothing for Richards and Carter? I would ask you to read that statement out loud to hear how stupid it sounds but you just don't get it. Again Carter and Richards won their cup as auxiliary players not as the centerpieces of the franchise. When the Flyers went to the cup finals Carter and Richards had a goal and an assist each, and Carter's goal was an empty netter. That was a six game series! People may hate me for being a Flyers' fan but I am sure they pity you for being a moron.

Flyers fans need to stop putting JVR on high pettlestoll because he was the second pick behind Kane. JVR even when was healthy wasn't dominate player. He was a good player. He lacks toughest.Plus flyers had problems with him since day one when he decided to go back to college instead of join the team. Remember this before deadline came and gone jackets tried to dump Nash on flyers at the last minute.

As for richie and Carter, flyers thought they were top line centerman and winger and gaved them those contracts. It didn't work out with those two clowns, so they move on. The flyers were redeemed in kings run because it just proved they are second line players and got great value in return.

@flyeredup? Are you really a Flyer's fan or a troll? Does your mom know you are using the computer way past your bed time?

Let me start by saying I don't want the Flyers to trade JVR. He deserves a chance to show he can play he did in the playoffs two years ago when given a healthy start. It was clear as day that he was having issues skating with power last season. The explosiveness was not there given his injuries.

However, to state fire Holmgren and that Richards and Carter were the team's future is absurd. This was Richard's and Carter's team and they had their chance.. I could care less about their off ice lifestyle or their refusal to join "sober island."

First Carter- A guy who was supposed to be a top flight power forward minus the power. A waste of a big body. The only hit I ever recall him delivering was when he caught a devil's rookie with his head down in the crease about 3 years ago. Some nights he was great, others I wondered where he was. I don't care that he scored 8 goals in the King's playoff run, he still was inconsistent. He made numerous poor plays but they are less noticeable in a winning effort.

Richards- Was a stud in the Flyer's cup run. Played very well for the Kings in the playoffs. Also, beyond Pronger's injury was the main reason the team collapsed in the second half of his last season with the team. His play was horrid at that time. Ultimately I think he is a very good player but he definitely lacks leadership skills. In the NHL 36 episode featuring Richards, this clearly showed when he told the referee "you're awesome" on his way to a stupid unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. For a league veteran he sounded immature and pathetic.

But the biggest revelation with Carter and Richards in winning the cup was they were not meant to be "the guys" on a winning team. They were auxiliary parts to a Stanley Cup winner. The team belonged to Quick, Brown, Kopitar and Doughty first. The Flyer's are clearly Giroux's team, and Pronger's if he can return via a miracle. Those two are so distant from Giroux talent wise and clearly lack his leadership ability. And remember, this season was Giroux's first chance to lead the team. So citing his suspension in the playoffs for a hit that lacked better judgment is not so valid. He was a guy clearly taking the reins of his team at numerous times but frustration got the better of him at that point. I will accept that from a first year de facto captain.

As for the talent the Flyer's received in return- Couturier is a future Selke winner with offensive ability that barely had a chance to surface last year. He has a great shot. His offensive ability will flourish once he gets second line minutes. Voracek also has tremendous upside. Find a single hockey expert that would not insist the Flyers fleeced Columbus in that deal. Simmonds is a power forward who should score 30-35 goals regularly. Schenn will be stud as well. He showed glimpses of it this year. He seems to have more of a goal scorer's knack than Richards did early in his career though Richards was more defensively refined. And the Flyers have a very late second round pick coming to them as well. Either way, they again walked away with the better part of the deal.

The only thing that is kinda terrible is your thinking.

@phillynac - didn't every player here since 1975 "have their chance"? Why trust Homer and Snider? What exactly have they done to gain unconditional support? They are awful at the cap and give too many no trade clauses. Also, the Flyers with Quick would have led to same outcome. You need a good team defense in front of a goalie an the Flyers do not have it. Best thing that could happen to the flyers would be Snider stepping down and hiring a hockey guy to run everything.
The issue though is the Columbus wants a ton for Nash.

Remember what they wanted from the Rangers? A 1st round pick, Dubinsky, Kreider, and either McDonagh or Del Zotto. Thats a lot, and JVR would be nothing more then simple filler in any Flyers trade for Nash. They would need to be willing to part with a top tier player, and likely a good prospect for Columbus to even start talking to them.
