Maybe so, but knowing the workings of this “organization”, particularly vs. the rest of the league, this, and the points I raised, above, are of absolutely no shock.

Yeah, I’m off-base, and JD’s really coming to the CBJ (and Lord knows I hope I’m wrong, but I’m not)…

I’m sure Murray will be a good defenseman, but I have a hunch he may be overhyped. Regardless of what you or I or anyone else thinks, however, it’s doubtful the Isles will draft him…certainly not if Gally and / or FF are there at #4.

Suffice to say that Corey Pronman told a follower that Larsson is superior to any defenseman in this draft and, I am reliably informed, the Isles would not have drafted him even if they had not been bumped back to #5 by the Devils.

Forsberg staying home has been widely known for a year now…. almost every prospect should stay away from the NHL for another year, if not 2, before getting the call to the NHL.

I know I wouldn’t have been ready at 18. Most need time to grow and mature as a man, especially with money and the world by the short and curlies

it looks again that I really can’t disagree with much you said… Murray is almost a year older than most in this draft so he should be able to come into most teams ready to go…. but so should Grigorenko. My only concern over Grig is that he was in a mans body playing against kids and that the game might not be as easy for him at the next level. I still see him as a #2 center and not the dynamic #1 “Malkin type if you will”.

Time will tell and I personally think there are better D prospects than Murray in this draft but it’s hard to fault any GM going after the “safe” pick and NHL ready player, potential future captain in Murray. I think feel that NYI would rather have a Murray or Trouba than Dumba / Reilly… A defensive defenceman.

no doubt D takes longer to develop but if done properly each year, you should be on a revolving door.

Isles DO draft D…LATER! D takes a LONG time to develop. Many Isle fans were talking about Schenn the same way folks are talking about Murray now, He was drafted by TOR #5. Isles drafted Travis Hamonic #53 and no sane GM would trade Hamonic for Schenn today. Exactly NO Norris winners since the lockout have been first rounders and only 2 since 2000.

I’ve read a lot of different things about Grigo and I think a lot of the criticism is overblown. He may wind up being another Couturier. Isles have a lot of quality D talent in the system and will no doubt draft more D prospects this year. I doubt Murray will be one of them. IF Isles draft D w/ the top pick, my guess would be Rielly or Dumba as they have better high end offensive skills.

as I agree with your post and I think everyone in the top 6 will stay put…. but I was saying if there was one team to move up, I…… “I” think it would be NYI so they can get Murray.

If you think Grigorenko is a better option than Murray, than that’s your opinion but I would seriously be pissed off if my GM made that move!

Murray is top 4 ready and a leader. NYI needs D, and clearly D was the difference in the Stanley Cup and is each cup

Only way Murray’s even a consideration for the Isles is if Forsberg and Galchenyuk go 2 and 3. Even then, Isles will be looking at Grigo, Teuvo and other D prospects like Rielly and Dumba. Isles certainly will not move up for Murray…or likely anyone else. They will likely pick where they are…as I suspect will everyone else.

Howson is doing what all good GMs do…listening to offers and not ruling anything out. My guess is he trades Nash and gets a goalie as part of that deal and drafts Forsberg as his next franchise winger.

the only team that makes any sense to me trading up to the #2 spot is NYI, just so they can land Murray.

I expect Columbus to be drafting #2 come next Friday
