I’m pretty sure a flight from minneapolis to Madison is not too much shorter than one from Detroit or really most of his cities. Couple more hours at best. The kid is from Wisconsin, played college hockey at Sconnie. Not sure how that makes him a Wild fan. Probably if anything he’s a blackhawk fan. Wild fans have to stop using this “local” angle on Suter and Parise. This is not 1950. These millionaire athletes are going to places for one of two reasons, money or a chance to win. If either of them care about the latter, Wild have no shot. You can talk about prospects all day but theres a reason the Wings make the playoffs every year. They’re a well run organization. Pains me to say that, the wings are one of my least favorite teams in this league.

40 pts would be huge from a second or 3rd line guy next year in Granlund. The wild are getting better. I think they get parise and auger. If they don’t get sitter they get jackman. If they stay healthy they are top 3 team with those additions.

Don’t get too overhyped about Granlund next year. As a Wild fan, I feel that he will struggle in his first full season on NHL ice. His game is elite on the international ice where his skating is top notch along with his vison and hands…. he will struggle with shortened ice and checking. He won’t be able to make “all” the plays he is used to …. I am expecting around 40pts from him in his rookie year, anything over 45 would be HUGE!!!! I am mostly hoping he doesn’t get injured.

Charlie Coyle and Brodin are the prospects that I am mostly excited to see skate in the coming months / years…

Yes!!!! Suter does want to play close to home, everyone is saying it but you! if you choose to think that its a non factor then just wait and see… If he signs in Tampa / NYR / California, then I will personally apologize to you… I won’t hold my breath.

if you also think that “if” the Wild add Parise and Suter doesn’t make them a contender and or playoff team, than my friend you are blind.

You forget so easily that they were playing great hockey until everyone on their starting 6 was injured for a good portion of the season and had a young undersized Defense that was even more injured…. Koivu / PMB / Latendresse / Backstrom / Harding / Setoguchi / Cullen / Clutterbuck / Scandella / Spurgeon ….. I do not remotely think they were the most talented team, heck not even in the top 2/3rds of the league but if healthy the Wild would have made the playoffs as a lower seed and no one would have thought otherwise. They would have been most likely knocked out by Vancouver or whom ever but you get my drift.

Adding the best forward and Defenseman in one summer frenzy helps the Wild out a lot. Open your eyes.

I am in no way saying pencil them in an the next Stanley cup champs but to think they can’t make the playoffs and then just see what happens then,….. its entirely possible

Why does everyone assume the Wild are frontrunners in the Suter and Parise sweepstakes? Just because it’s Suter’s hometown?
If we’re all being honest, the Wild aren’t very good, and 1 or 2 pieces isn’t going to fix it, and Suter knows it, and neither of them strike me as unintelligent to be unable to see it

there are 30 teams in this league that could a top-3 forward or a top-2 defencemen – lets see how bad they want to win and go to a then-elite team, or go to who can pay most.
