His agent is FURIOUS at him for giving the Rangers the cold shoulder, but screw his agent: Completely unbiased: Hopefully he stays in Jersey at a discount. The NHL is overdue for a player who understands that the league is (at best) breaking even.

Ok first of all, he didn’t say “No way”… he simply said “no”. So thats a misquote right there (try watching the video http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=634674).

Second you have to put the situation in context. Hes still a Devil, hes standing in the Devils locker room, and theres at least a decent chance he will still be a Devil next year. Do you honestly think he would say “Yeah sure, I can see myself playing for the Rangers” considering all that? Yeah, because that wouldn’t make things awkward in the lockeroom if he stays there next year. Come on peopel…. use that lump three feet about your butt, its there for a reason.

It sould also be noted that he said he couldn’t see himself playing for ANY other team. The only one he was asked directly about was the Rangers, which again… he of course HAD to say “no” to that question.

The funny part is that the biggest thing from this interview that was lost in the pointless speculation about the Rangers is that it really sounds like hes staying with the Devils. He kept talking about being with them next year, and there was little to suggest hes packed his bags at this point. Somehow all that was missed by his PC answer about the Rangers.

There’s no doubt the Caps have the cap space for Parise after freeing Semin. I’m sure George McPhee will be offering a sum of money for Parise to wear his jersey.

Parise also said he wanted to go to a team that can win the cup and I don’t believe the Wild are quite there yet. Detroit on the other hand still have plenty of talent even without Lidstrom and Holmstrom. A Datsyuk/Parise combo has plenty of potential.

Then again Ovechkin/Backstrom/Parise also sounds pretty good.

how can the rangers even afford him. they’ll have to sign a few FAs, and then if they do sign him, they’ll have to deal with his long term contract, Richards, and future signings like gaborik and callahan.

@barkar you’re confusing Ovi with Semin and every other Russian player! Watch Ovi play he’s got a viscous back check and he’s not afraid to jump back. Reason you think his d is subpar is because he’s leading the rush so he’s last to be concerned with the back check.

Been saying the Rangers had no shot. Money doesn’t mean a team has a shot for every player in the league. Obviously, Parise has enough respect for the the Devils that he wouldn’t go join a rival.

The Devils, Wings, and Wild are the candidates.

Yeah right. No doubt the Rangers will dangle the $$$$ and in the way the offer will be something that Parise won’t refuse. I see this though as a disaster for the Rangers (see Bobby Holik and Scott Gomez)

I just said it to someone else, wanting to re-sign and the Devils willing to give up what others might offer are two different things. Im not sure teams will be throwing 10mil a year at him but they’ll be giving big term I think.
