For instance in 5 years most likely Bertuzzi (would 42), conklin (41), and Holmstrom (44) will all be out of the league.

Cleary (38), datsyuk (38), Franzen (37), janik (37), kronwell (36), macdonald (37), zetterberg (36) will either be out of the league or will have lost a step or two.

If they go to Minnesota, they would be in younger prospects who will hit their prime in a year or two. Players when signing a long contract will look further down the road. The fact the Wild are set up perfectly salary cap wise and prospect wise would give them a longer run of being competitive.

because Detroit is so much more attractive than Minnesota. A team that has questionable goaltending, their 2 best defenseman have either retired or had their rights traded. Maybe we should talk about how much they are aging. When a player is going to sign a 10 contract, they are going to look further beyond being narrow sighted for a year or two.

KFAN maybe the radio home of the Wild, however Lou Nanne was on a different radio station on the AM side at ESPN and said pretty much the same exact thing a mere 4 hours BEFORE he was on Barreiro’s show on Tuesday.

I would just like to let everyone who is not local Minnesota that KFAN is the official Wild station and many of the radio hosts constantly sell hope of the future of the team even though they haven’t had a watchable hockey squad in years. It appears a couple of the people posting on here have drank the kool aid and take the propaganda KFAN to heart. While I agree the Wild may have a shot at Parise but it’s an outside shot. KFAN would have you believe the Wild will be hoisting the cup in a couple years but the reality is they will be lucky to make the playoffs with or without Parise and these so called top prospects. The core is just not strong enough on D or O in the organization.

No, Nanne has no media affiliation. Doesn’t collect a pay check or anything. He is no different than if they had Barry Melrose, Bob McKenzie, or Michael Russo of the local paper on. So the owner tells someone something that he knows will be repeated in the media (and it was)…it gets out there…and Parise’s agent now knows that he can always go to the Wild to get his asking price…uses that against the Devils. He is A former GM, not The Wild’s former GM. And that was 30 years ago he was the North Stars GM, he has zero affiliation with the Wild besides knowing everyone in the hockey business, both in and out of Minnesota.

His job is a hockey commentator and does weekly guest spots on KFAN and ESPN1500. His job is to speculate on what he knows via what he hears.

A) I get that he’s the “former” GM..but this is pretty close to tampering. He’s not a free agent yet and he’s negotiating with the Devils. Another team leaking this is interfering.

B) Do not rule out the Sabres. They have the commitment (now) and hockey market he’s looking for. Winning a Cup in Buffalo would be (& will be when it happens) alot more rewarding than signing with the Kings are repeating…he’s a leader…and leader’s like to lead…not follow.

For free agency this year, the Flyers are like the homeless guy sitting on the corner bagging you for spare change and left over food from that drunken taco bell run you had last night (not that i endorse drinking and driving).

He could take the money and run to a team that “might” be competing for a cup, or he could stay with the team he captained that was 2 wins away from the cup.

The same organization who has been in the playoffs 15 of the past 16 seasons — what other team can say that?

Above all, Lou Lamoriello is dedicated to putting a competitive team on the ice, year in and year out, if Zach Parise wants to win, he has just as good a chance in New Jersey as anywhere else.

At the end of the day, Zach is going to disappoint a lot of people in MIN & DET & elsewhere. Hhe is going to stay right where he is.

Partly this is because he has a bond w/ his teammates and fans but mostly it’s because of Lou. There is one reason that the Devils have been as successful as they have over the past two decades and that is that they have the most capable GM in the NHL—yes, he’s more capable than Holland.

Also, apart from Marty, who obviously can still play at a very high level, and Elias, the team has a very young core compared to DET. I suspect that, at the end of the day, Zach is going to decide that his best chance to drink from the Cup is to stay with Lou and his guys at the Rock–and he’ll offer a hometown discount if need be.

This is one of the top two goaltenders in the league, an argument can be made for #1 and on top of that this team went to the ECF and led the Eastern Conference in regular season. The top four Dmen for this team are a formidable force one that can match almost any team in the league. The offense is the weakest for this team but the addition of a scorer can make this team cup contenders for at least the next 5-10 years possibly further. You look at the growth of prospects and rookies and this team becomes even more formidable. To bring up the retirement issue is just dumb you pulled the trigger way too early. Copy your comment to use in at the earliest half a decade and then it will make sense.

There defense was average last year with 4 out of the 6 being rookies or 2nd year players. They aren’t exceptional, but they finished around 15th in the league in GA. Keeping pucks out of the net isn’t the problem, it’s putting them there.

They also do have Brodin on the way, who is pretty much a sure bet to be top 4 guy with a good chance at being top 2. He was already playing more minutes in the WC’s than some NHLers.
