Child, please – the Devils at one point in game 3 had been awarded 12 power plays in the series to the Kings’ 3. The hit by Stoll to Gionta could have been called but Stoll pulled back and it wasn’t into the glass. Bernier, however, saw Scuderi’s back from just inside the blueline and at no point was the front of Scuderi’s jersey visible to him. He hit him from behind with the entire offensive zone to pull up, and instead finished his upper body into the boards. Absolutely automatic call there. The Devils could have responded to adversity, like the Kings did in killing six consecutive PPs in game 3, but they got beat for three goals and the game, series and season were over.

The linesman getting bowled over was unfortunate, but not getting the puck out and not getting a man on Carter was on the Devils.

In the end, the Kings finished the series 6 for 20 on the PP, while the Devils were 1 for 19 (and that 1 was a gift). They got outscored 16 to 8 overall. Bad calls happen, they went both ways, and I trust that the Devils organization and players will continue to show the class that some of their fans didn’t and just recognize that they just got whipped by a team that was simply better from top to bottom this postseason.

Well it was the New Jersey Devils vs the Los Angeles Kings, Referees and linesman for the 2012 Stanley Cup.
I am not a Devils fan, but surely love the NHL over all sports. But now I have a spine in my side. The NHL clearly gives lower fan base teams less respect. If you are not an original team, you are already seem to be an disadvantage before the game starts.

But lets come back to reality. All any NHL fan wants is a fair game, a minor mistake is ok, but as fair as possible. There were two Cinderella stories in action. A come back from 0-3, and 8th seed who never won a cup(who happened to have a player by the name Wayne Gretsky on it). What I saw in game 6 was a travesty to the NHL, and a travesty to the Referee’s Dan O’Rourke and Chris Rooney ,and one of the linesman Jean Morin, Derek Amell who set a pick for a King behind the net. As far as I understand hockey, besides face-offs, linesman belong blue line to blue line when the puck is in play. As for NHK Referee Dan O’Rourke not calling a boarding on Steven Gionta is yet another travesty in this game. So play goes on, and one of the new jersey devils glides two body lengths into a defenseless player. Now the call at minimum is hitting from behind. The top of his nose is bleeding because if anyone knows that type of helmet its close to you knows and can easily scrape the top of your nose and we all know the face bleeds allot. He is so clueless he calls a 5 minute major (which allows unlimited goal scoring) and kicks the new jersey devil out of the game leaving the new jersey one short on the bench. Payola from Gretsky or NHL, which was it NHL Referee Chris Rooney? Imagine if i was a devil fan,I don’t know how Pete Debeur was so calm during the post game but said he will have more to say soon. I should hope so.

In my opinion the first person to lift that cup could have been either payola referee Dan O’Rourke, or Chris Rooney.

By the way, Sportscenter, which originates from California right? Well anyway Sportscenter had a whole 1 min and 23 second segment on the Stanley Cup. That’s even with them showing 3 different angled replays of the check from behind. Just goes to show you that there wasn’t much interest in this Stanley Cup Final and what boring hockey does for the sport.

I don’t understand all this Richards and Carter stuff though. The Kings won the cup and made the playoffs because of Quick. Period. Still like the trades and still believe we can dominate year in and year out in the next 2 years if not next season. We in Philly are extremely happy for Richards, Carter, Gagne, and especially Hextall. You all apparently don’t know how we treat our teams or players. Even if they leave. This is why other fans don’t get us. We treat our teams like family. It sounds funny but that’s the best way to describe it

You want to blame it on the refs all of sudden, while they allow the trap to be legal lol? You all are a joke, good luck in getting more than 5,000 people to your games next year lol.

As a Kings fan and a Kings season ticket holder I’m enjoying every moment of this. But let’s not mistaken the Cup winning team as the “best” team. The Kings were no doubt the hottest team but calling a team that was below .500 and barely making the playoffs the “best” team?

It was so damn loud in there last night, my ears are still ringing. Primal screams from long suffering fans. Could not be happier for the Kings. Seeing Ray Bourque lift the Cup was unbelievable, for him, after such an amazing career, but seeing the Kings lift the Cup was 1,000x better, for them and for all of their awesome fans. Well done.

They earned a lot of those penalties man. Nothing the refs can do but call what they see. Penalties get missed that hurt all sides and all teams during all parts of the season. What matters is how the team that gets called overcomes the penalty.

No, they don’t suck. They weren’t good enough this year, but the thing about hockey players is that for almost all of them, they’re hard-working guys who give their all and are worthy of our respect even though and perhaps because we so want to hate them when they’re playing against our team. Besides, this is about the Kings, not about who they beat – focusing too much on slagging the teams that came up short detracts from enjoying the team that didn’t.
