I do not doubt that the Flyers have an interest in acquiring Nash. I do not doubt that they would be willing to part with JVR. I do doubt that the Flyers are upset with him about not getting the surgery, and that it was holding up a deal. Eskin may have sources, but he also loves to create rifts and stir pots. Here is an article by a Flyers’ writer who is objective and has some good sources, it may clarify the situation.

I dont understand why the Flyers would have such a desire to get Nash. Their offense looked really good this year… it was the back end that absolutely killed them. Adding Nash isn’t going to make the Flyers any better if they don’t do something about their defense, and adding $7.8 million in cap space is going to make that really hard.

I could understand the attraction to Nash if the Flyers needed offense, but they don’t. Not to beat the dead defense horse here, but that is what they need. However, is Howson still calling the shots in Columbus? Then maybe it’s a deal for Nash and their # 1 pick. He gave up a ton to get Carter, why not a ton for JVR? Or is it a 3 way deal, for the Flyers to bring in a top flight d-man?

He didn’t predict Richards and Carters were going to be traded.
He reported that the Flyers were willing to trade Richards or Carter.

He has sources and hear things, and reports them, he does not have a crystal ball.

At least Nash to Philly is a more realistic off-season scenario than the silly Stamkos is going to Philly foolishness we had to listen from teenage know-nothing Flyer fans last year.

This time last year eskin predicted that Richie and Cartsey would be traded. I’ll do the deal if blue jackets throw in defenseman or goalie. Imagine Nash on a line with giroux and jagr. That would be sick.

while I dont doubt the flyers have had conversations with them about nash this article is such a joke im sorry but there is no way the flyers are mad at jvr because he delayed surgery. First off no player delays a surgery to prevent themselves from being traded. It doesnt matter who you are if a team is going to trade you then you are going to be traded. Secondly i doubt holmgren is going to deal for a 30-40 goal scorer who has a cap hit of 7.8 million when our offense is already full of goal scorers. If jvr gets traded its going to be for a young defenseman. Also dont believe anything that comes from howard eskins mouth

i would love nash next to G but not for 7.8mill. and their biggest need is a 1 defense man. it would be stupid to part with assets for a player we have no need for

Bad deal, I don’t like Nash for this club. He hasnt shown dominance in years and he’s older than much of the players we have. Holmgren might be looking at draft picks in the 1st. Since a few teams have reported they want out of it

Looks like Eskin is fishing again. Howard Eskin used to be somewhat reliable, when dealing with the Eagles. He is a hack! He makes stuff up constantly, just to get people to pay attention to him. Could the Flyers be interested in Nash? Absolutely. But this isn’t news, they were looking at him at the deadline. I just don’t believe that the Flyers are mad at JVR for not getting surgery, because they want to deal him.
