I’m not sure about the politics thing because I am a Bush fan and not an Obama fan so your anyone point fails to hold up.

I’m also not sure where this slump occurred because he was still 10th in Save Percentage and Shutouts and 12th in GAA . Not a Vezina campaign, but hardly a bad season in anyone’s eyes.

You just confirmed what we all believed about this “controversy” – Thomas just has the wrong political views!

I love how you justify things by asserting that Bush was unpopular (with anyone? really? He did, after all, win a second term. Not so sure about the current one) so that made it OK to snub him. All I hear is how it shouldn’t have been about politics, and he disrespected the office of the president, etc., etc. If that’s true, then it was equally as wrong to snub Bush.

You wouldn’t criticize Thomas or blame the midseason slump on politics if he ranted about conservatives and posted on FB that he stood with the 99%.

The fact is he is 38 and played his a** off for 2 extra months last season. I’m pretty sure he had these very same political views then, and it didn’t seem to affect his playing ability one bit. The team was also well aware of his views, yet here we are with a Stanley Cup. Amazing.

None of them spent the next several months abusing their sports star publicity to rant about their personal politics, all while going through performance slumps that made it seem like they were more interested in demanding everyone listen to their political opinions than earn their pay.

Also, Bush wasn’t popular with anyone by that point. ANYONE. Obama’s still got the part of America who doesn’t hate him, so there’s that playing into things.

Why would he want to stay in Boston? They have trown him under the bus over and over for four years and all he has done is win two veznas and a cup! Thats why he didn’t go to the white house with the team, they don’t treat him like a vezna winning goalie, unfortunatly he is so old now he probably won’t get a chance with another team. Timmy is the man, and do we know if Chara even speaks good enough English to speak with Thomas?

I’m sure most guys think it sucks but when a guy doesn’t feel like playing anymore what can you say to him?
