I think they should give the players the choice. I’m sure some kids won’t feel comfortable wearing the half shield but some will like the better vision.

I don’t know why they wear them in the first place up here we only require minor hockey kids to wear them until there 18 and done midget hockey. as for the upper level talent kids they ditch the visors ay 16 when the join the CHL. playing hockey myself I personally hate the cages. even our college level guys wears visors

Personally, my son plays college hockey, and I’d like to see him keep all his teeth until he gets out of college. Even if most kids control their sticks, it still only takes one mistake to really mess up a kids face. Let them have the option, but i will tell my son he’s wearing the cage

This has been in the pipeline for years. I believe the logic is that they’re losing top talent to Junior A in Canada because it helps ease the transition into pro hockey. I remember hearing that it was only going to be put in place for D1 and not D3.

Everyone takes the cage off once they graduate and goes no facemask/visor so it really isn’t too big of a deal.

The majority of the talent level in the NCAA D1 is fairly high, meaning their (the players’) abilities to control their sticks and what not are way more responsible.

This isn’t some washed up 30+ mens beer league here.

I say, just give the kids the option.

i wear a visor and love it i could never wear a cage again
