FWIW, after his rookie stint coaching the first time with MTL, he took a PIT team in the dumps and turned them into a Stanley Cup contender in short order. I think the question this time around will be whether he can finish the job. The guy can brush back the Montreal media, and is known for developing young talent. I would've preferred Crawford, but I'm a second chance kind of guy. Maybe that's my failing.

The media win!! On a nightly French TV hockey show (yes, even in the off-season), the panelists were very worried about Marc Crawford getting the job after Bob Hartley went to Calgary. To translate, they were upset when they figured that Crawford was now the front-runner. They said it was too bad that Serge Savard was "obviously not being consulted anymore" if Crawford could even be considered. Why? Because, for instance, after a loss or any stressful situation, Crawford would "revert" to the language he's more comfortable in (i.e. English). Never mind that pretty much 99% of anyone who's ever followed hockey would realize who the more qualified hockey coach would be (i.e. not Therrien). Well, it seems that nothing's changed - the media have more influence than the team's ownership and management. I also now hear that Randy Cunneyworth may very well be receiving his walking papers after being demoted to assistant coach (M. Bergevin's very first order of business upon being hired). That too, would be typical of the recent management style of the team. They may change the characters in the cast, but the play remains a comedy.

Once a loser always a loser.... Les glorieux are no more. The pride of wearing and coaching the CH is gone. They get stuck with left overs nobody wants. Why do you think Harley went to Cal instead of Mtl?
