They’re supposed to know how to hold mics like broadcasters, not like rap singers. It would more professional to show some space between the top of the mic and the mouth. Rule of thumb for on air talent: “If you’re a guy, mic should be below the knot of the tie.” No matter how loud the crowd is, that rule always applies. The floor director and/or director should be in charge of that ,and they shouldn’t be afraid to tell the talent to back off from the microphone. At their broadcast level, for a Stanley Cup, we expect better.

When I first became a King’s fan as a fourteen year old here in Vancouver back in ’73, I used to listen to Bob Miller calling the King’s games on my tiny transistor radio … the feed was completely garbled, but man was that ever fun for me ! :) … anyway, I’m not sure what’s going on around here these days ? … it’s like I’ve died and gone to heaven or something ? :)
