No one can condone the acts of a few extremist idiots, which to some degree all cities have, and Boston has a not so glorious history in that regards. That being said, the above referenced article cited by Bearcounty17, in which ALMOST 60% of Quebecers admit to being racist to some degree is both astounding and shameful. I think it’s not an assumption to say that there are a hell of a lot more Habs fans than Bruins fans in Quebec so I think even Scabsman can do that math. Also, although apparently proud of their racism over a wide range of ethnic groups they appear to not have similar feelings towards wife beaters as they are still considering St. Patrick as their head coach.

Boston was the first team to have a black player in the NHL. The Celtics were the first team to start an all black line-up. Most of the bad relations are a result of Tom Yawkey’s Sox ownership.

Well, after all, no other city has ever had something like that happen (Wayne Simmons ring a bell? That wasn’t Boston), nor did the unfortunate Joel Ward incident end up being something to attribute to Bruins fans only. And of course there’s the part where it has NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS SITUATION.

If you look them up, the Joel Ward tweets were by “fans” of several teams. Not to mention that any fan base should not be described by its worst fans.

ANY fanbase “has a documented history of racial hatred”. We’ll always be able to find at least a few people who act like idiots and bigots, regardless of what city you look in.

I hate Boston, like I mean I loathe Boston.

Huge Yankee fan, Huge Canuck fan, a passing Habs fan …you honestly can’t hate that city more than me.

On a personal level, despite my love of, American history, college girls, and great pubs I have made a vow to never even step foot into that city again for the rest of my life.

Having said all that … habsman, just give it a rest. You’re seriously coming off as deranged and borderline pathetic. Don’t get me wrong, I respect your commitment to the hatred … but honestly you’re like a broken record that plays nothing but old New Kids on the Block tracks on the wrong speed.

As recently as last month, dozens of “N” word tweets were used by Bruin fans to describe Joel Ward of the Caps. I don’t think it’s a stretch to speculate that Thomas would have been subjected to the same treatment if he were black.

Does the fact that the Boston fan base has a documented history of racial hatred bother you?
