They're in no man's land right now. Not good enough to contend, but unwilling to make the trades needed to bottom out and go full-on rebuild.

I've talked to a few Flames fans who go to games regularly. Every one of them that I talked to says the same thing; trade Iggy, trade Kipper, start off-loading veteran players. Pick up picks and prospects for them. Bring up the kids on the farm and give them a real chance to play and compete. These kids on the farm might surprise.

I think if they didn't see the Oilers up the road with Hall, Nuge, Eberle and this year's #1 (probably Nail), they'd be less likely to want a full re-build. But there's a lot more willingness to go the full re-build route, because those Oilers are making it look appealing.

The Flames are in a very weird situation. In my opionion the Flames have to trade both Iggy and Stajan and more than lickley take a step back for a year ir two and stock up on prospects and make the organization younger. If they trade Iggy u would think it would include a player that is roster ready playeru going back to the Flames. Than i think they need to sign some free agents one quality 3rd liner and a goal scorer to take Iggts spot.

...the flames continue to sell out every game, right? ...in an arena that holds over 20,000 people? i'd love to know what financial calamity they have met that has turned them into the blue jackets salary-wise.
