I would beg to differ friend … “food throwing” is exactly what Montreal needs at this point in time ! … their current malaise is not only disappointing for the fans of Montreal, even worse, it’s an absolute insult to the team and it’s glorious legacy (ie: the same could actually be said for the Leafs too) … I was born in Montreal and I grew up their as a kid, hating them and loving Bobby Orr and the Bruins … nonetheless, I maintain that Montreal “should and can” be a great franchise again … and a good way to start would be be hiring Roy !

For those who are unfamiliar with Roy, he coaches the Quebec Remparts–Grigo’s team–and has been pumping Grigo’s tires quite hard. He might even push for the Habs to trade up to #2 to be sure of getting Grigo.

One personnel decision Roy would surely want a say in is the #3 pick. Guaranteed he’d push for Mikhail Grigorenko to be the #3 pick–assuming Columbus doesn’t select him.

Players wont respect a goalie telling them what to do. Especially if he is doing it
“tantrum style”.

Ya, and those players need to make themselves known so GM’s on good teams can trade them to desperate team.

People are talking about Roy as if he is only some former player who wants to be coach. He’s isn’t, he’s been doing the same thing as Dale Hunter in the Q league.

And without say about the roster and draft, Roy isn’t interested and will choose to stay in Junior with the team he owns and completely controls.

And when the Nordiques return, they will give him exactly that.

Usually, mercurial personalities don’t have a long shelf life in the NHL. Maybe juniors in awe of the HOFer will put up with Roy, but NHL players with huge salaries may not care much for constant blow ups and quit on the coach when they’re fed up.

well given the current state of Montreal’s kitchen, I’d say that Roy is “exactly” the type of cook you want in there ! … if Montreal has any brains, then this should be a slam dunk … especially now that Vigneault is staying put for the time being …
