I got a bad feeling about Nash, I really think he'd underachieve in NY. Parise is definitely a good deal and I'm pretty confident he wants to be wearing blue next year. I think Kreider has the potential to have a huge breakout year. I mean, the kid came up during the playoffs under a ton of pressure from a fanatical fanbase and out performed the Rangers' top players. Rangers are gonna be a beast of a team next year with the right deals and hopefully a better powerplay.

The Rangers will not end up with both Nash and Parise. There is simply not enough cap space to go around.

Not only do the Rangers have a few free agents they need to resign this year, over the next two years several guys they will want to keep will have their entry level deals expire... including Stepan, McDonagh, and Kreider. All of them are going to need huge raises, and the Rangers will need the cap space to make it happen.

Besides, the Rangers will have Kreider this year. He might not be a super star on level with Nash or Praise in his first year... but he sure as hell proved he can play and score at a pro level already. Imagine what he will do with a full training camp and better integration into the Rangers system... not to mention an 82 game season at the NHL level. He very well might be a found 20-30 goal scorer at a fraction the cost.

Now between Nash and Parise... Parise is clearly the better player, and would be much smoother for the Ragners to pick up (if he does leave the Devils) since they could just sign him as a free agent. To get Nash, the Rangers would have to deal with the laughably high demands of Columbus... and I don't know if the Rangers will be willing to give up enough to make Columbus happy.

Del Zaster sucks, give that bum away. Don't even think of trading staal. The hell with Nash, he's another guy who's already passed his prime that everyone thinks is gonna come to NY and become a superstar and its not gonna happen. He will pull a Jagr/Gomez/Drury, sign a huge deal and then flop. Sign Parise not Nash.

You gotta give something to get something. Nash is a legit offensive scorer, Staal is a legit top 2 D-man. NYR have Girardi and McDonaugh as a top pair, Del Zotto is a legit second tier guy, Michael Sauer has a ton of potential (see how he's doing over the summer post-concussion), plus Erixon waiting in the wings and Dylan McIlrath 2-3 years away. They have talent on D, and while Staal isn't expendable he IS someone that another team would actually want in a trade, unlike Dubisnsky who is no more than a throw in at this point.

there is no chance in hell the rangers would part ways with Staal, he isnt even in his prime yet and as you can see, healthy is a monster. dubinsky, staal and a first is way too much. They can move dubinsky for salary cap purposes get nash in it and still have enough to sign parise. Their best best is to go after bobby ryan again. He is younger than nash and overall a more dynamic scorer. Plus ryan and dubinsky share the same cap hit.

By all means, go after Rick Nash, but don't dare touch that Krieder kid.

Would Mark Staal, Dubinsky, 1st round pick and pick to be named later get the deal done?

As for Gabby, the injury clearly made some difference, but fact is Torts cracks the whip pretty hard on these guys in terms of what he expects them to do every. single. shift. and Gaborik is just not the kind of guy who can hold up to that sort of play for 100+ games a season. Can't use it as too much of an excuse, I think he was simply worn down, and that's the reason for lack of production. Burst with his legs just wasn't there.
