I do agree that Parise over Nash would be a smarter thing to do, not necessarily based on talent and productivity, but on price. Parise costs nothing but cash. Nash costs cash AND what would no doubt be some valuable players included in the trade to get him.

Nash is more the type of player the Rangers need though. A big physical power forward (6'4" 220) who can skate and score. Parise is more of a shifty finesse player (5'11", 195), which the Rangers already have a few of and who came up small in the hard-nosed extra long playoffs.

Redden is never coming back to the NHL, at least not as a Ranger. If a team needs a defenseman and needs to meet the salary floor, then the Rangers will deal him away. Otherwise, he'll be in the AHL for the rest of his career.

I think Parise will stay with the Devils, even if they don't win the Cup. I don't think Lou will screw that up, though I could be wrong.

Suter will be tough as the Red Wings now need someone to fill the void left by Lidstrom.

Should be interesting to see what the Rangers do in the offseason.

I still don't think the Rangers will get Nash. Its not that they couldn't make it work with the Cap, since getting rid of Dubinsky (which seems likely) would free up plenty of space. However Columbus simply wants far more then hes worth, and considering this Rangers team made it to the ECF as is... it would be a mistake to gut the team for a decent, but not superstar, forward who's numbers have been falling the last couple years.

I think its far more likely the Rangers will go after Zach Parise should he not resign with the Devils by July 1st. After all, hes every bit as good as Nash (I think hes better actually) and signing him as a UFA the Rangers wouldn't need to give up anything to get him. Of course he probably would want a big contract, but I'm sure the Rangers could make it work.

Should also be interesting to see what happens with the CBA. Its possible that stashing big contracts in the AHL will no longer be allowed, which might screw the Rangers with Redden if there is no free buyout period.
