    No matter who it is, nobody will replace Lidstrom, including Ryan Suter. This is a HUGE loss for the Wings. Even as a Sharks fan, I’m sad to see him go. All true hockey fans should be.

    This is definitely a big blow to the Detroit Red Wings. They finally lose their number 1 defenceman who still would have been their number 1 guy next year. It’s a big hole to fill and, although they’ll probably make the playoffs next season, their chances are definitely diminished without one of the game’s all-time greats. It will definitely be interesting to see how Ken Holland responds this off-season and if he does anything to try and negate this effect.
