redux: how can you say “don’t make excuses as to who on your team was injured” and follow that up with 3 lines of excuses and injuries of your own. Also winning a series in 6 games when one of those games you lost 10-3 is hardly wiping the floor. Funny how everyone has to leave Philly in order to win a cup. Just ask your color analyst rick tocchet about that.

You guys won a championship BECAUSE you managed to stay healthy. It’s a rarity, and one of the reasons that it is so hard to win it all. And don’t make excuses as to who on your team was injured. Malkin took Grossmann out of the series with an elbow to the head, Timonen was nursing a major back injury, Pronger, Bourdon, and Meszaros were out, JVR had a torn labrum in his hip, Giroux had two bad wrists, Simmonds had a busted finger, Jagr had a thigh injury, etc. We were far from 100%, and we wiped the floor with you guys. And yeah, yeah Stanley Cup 3 years ago and it’s been 37 for us. Fact is they’re both in the past, and we’re closer to winning another than you guys are.

Congratulations on winning the coveted Pennsylvania Cup. I’m sure that Flyers fans are taking to the streets to celebrate such an amazing accomplishment.

Sorry to see Pronger or anyone dealing with concussion issues, and hopefully he recovers and can enjoy the remaining years of his life.

pens lost fair and square no disputing that. Congrats on those 5 extra games! The flyers are now 1 for 3 against the pens in the playoffs during the Crosby era. Enjoy it for the next 3 months and then the slate will be clean and the rivalry will resume.

what player did not play in playoffs for pity? philly had 5 players not playing…who cares bout reg season philly had 7 rookies playing every game…and 6 flyers had surgery after playoffs including giroux on both WRISTS. YOUR TEAM WAS AS HEALTHY AS THEY WILL EVER BE philly didnt have 2 of there best offense d men injured a future hof dman a top 6 forward and there best rookie dman ..give me a break with that injury bs…pity lost plain and simple

Completely healthy?!?!?1 Last time I checked Crosby was out the majority of the year and came back for a month and some. How the hell is that healthy? Neal played through injury, so did Letang. Michalek underwent hip surgery after the playoffs. Moreover, like usual we underwent numerous injuries throughout the year. Considering the Pens haven’t been fully healthy since they won the cup. I’m not making excuses. You got us this year. I wanna see next year when both teams being fully healthy and let the best team win.

Giroux’s concussion was minor in comparison. He only missed four games, and was incident free the rest of the season. Crosby had two in a very short period of time, which resulted in him being out for what, 10 months? Then he suffered another, still unknown, injury that resulted in him missing a couple of more months. So yes, at this point I’d say Crosby is in much worse shape, especially when you consider some of the other athletes who have had multiple concussions, and the fact that the problem seems to compound as their careers go on (Simon Gagne comes to mind).

giroux has had a concussion too. Is he also one hit away from mush? I agree that life is more important then a game but dont try and play doctor when you know nothing more then the information the media relays to you via the internet.

Not if he retires. The Flyers would need for him to go through the motions of attempting to be cleared to play every year till his contract has expired for them to get the LTIR cap credit. Considering the fact that he has five more years on his contract, the powers that be might not give them the credit after a couple of years, JMO. I remember last year on the NHL network they were talking just how can they come out and say he is done for the year. Then it was discovered how severe his concussion was and the talk went away, but they had a point. It’s not a broken leg lets say, where there is a fairly defined length of recovery time. Some of these guys with concussions talk how the effects slowly went away while others wake up one morning and all is “normal”. Either way, hope he recovers and has no severe long term life effects.
