Bourque was a Victim of Cheap ownership- you can’t blame him for that. Not taking anything away from Lidstrom as I think these arguments are impossible to prove or disprove, but Bourque lost twice to the Oilers who won 5 in 7 years and if you added 30 year old Lidstrom to the Bruins they still wouldn’t have beat the Oilers. Bourque had Oates and Neely. Lidstrom had Yzerman, Federov, Shannahan, Hull, Holstrom, Murphy, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and bunch of good solid aging Russians (Larionov, Fetisov, Kozlov). Bobby Orr is number one all time. no contest. he retired at 27 years old. 27. that would have been Lidstrom after his first cup. As for Doug Harvey; honestly don’t know enough him, but there were less teams and the Habs were still getting first shot at all the good players.
