Here's the thing about Semin...I can't foresee a team in the NHL willing to pay him what he 'thinks' he deserves. He's truly a very talented player but for some unknown reason, he lacks drive, motivation, and desire. He's a part time player who slacks off when his feelings get hurt (or when the team is down by 2 or more goals) and he takes frivolous penalties. And none of the 'great hit' type penalties. It's always tripping, slashing, cross check... he's a hacker. Is what it is. We spent countless years trying to break him of his habits and despite showing flashes of greatness, he just can't put it all together.

I foresee a stint in the KHL upcoming for Semin. If not and he stays in the NHL it's because he accepts a deal for far less than the number he has in his head.

The simple fact that he seems open to playing in Russia tells me hes probably going to be playing in Russia next season. Given his poor year, his awful playoff record, and his penelty habit hes not worth that much money in the NHL with the cap. He might get $4-5 million, but thats it.

In Russia however, a rich team could give him pretty much what ever they want. As a player coming back from the NHL to the KHL there would be no cap hit... so its not impossible for a team to offer him $10 million a year, or even more. No NHL team will come close to that. Not to mention he would probably be the best player in the KHL, and hes very very popular in Russia... two other pluses that he wouldn't have playing the the US.
