Conan O’Brien thinks it’s funny the Kings and Coyotes are playing each other

Internet celebrity Conan O’Brien tweeted a rather untimely joke Friday.

“The @LAKings are playing the @PhoenixCoyotes? I wonder which city that shouldn’t have a hockey team will win,” wrote O’Brien, who boasts over 5 million followers on Twitter.

Of course, the Los Angeles Kings aren’t actually playing the Phoenix Coyotes – they already eliminated them Tuesday to advance to the Stanley Cup finals.

Not surprisingly, the Kings responded in convincing fashion via Twitter: “Clearly, that joke wasn’t meant for prime time.”

O’Brien is also rumored to host a late-night television program.

I found it funny. Typical hockey die-hards hating. Just be happy there is soccer to keep hockey from being the butt of all sport-jokes.

You must like basketball since your name is watermelon.

This article sounds like it was written by a bitter kings fan.

You’re right, this “O’Brien” fellow is all over the interwebs. Here’s a little piece I found:

I love Conan. His next tweet is: “PS – I’m watching this @LAKings game on my DVR. No spoilers, please.” He followed that with: “@LAKings, don’t doubt that I’m up to date on your team. In fact, I know Marcel Dionne and Rogie Vachon will take you all the way this year.”
