And along the lines of "40+ years now", those NBC announcers are the absolutely pitiful. Darren Pang "Yeah, Smith gave Brown a nice little whack with his stick there" - admiringly. And last night after the winning goal, one of the announcers saying, "I think they're going to look and see if there wasn't a hand pass there" ... so much homeys for Phoenix I was wondering if they had money on the game.

What this is all about is that it's the Kings' second trip to the Finals in their history, and the national media wants to take the credit away from them and cast their accomplishment in a shadow. I won't be at all surprised if they blatantly root against the Kings in the Finals too.

I think Rozsival should just enjoy his time on the golf course today and leave hockey to those who are tough enough to play it without constantly whining to the refs.

Mike Smith deserves to be laid up in a hospital bed for a couple of days for some of the crap he pulled. What a coward - whacking people with his goalie stick and then flopping all over the place when anyone comes near him. I've been watching hockey for 40 + years now and Smith is easily the biggest chickenbleep I've seen.

In forty years of being a hockey fan and being a KIngs season ticket holder, I've never seen what took place at the end of this series. As was previously stated, the chirping at the refs when the game was over, the way a lot of PHX players acted in the handshake line and the fans throwing trash at the winning conference team. It is a good thing these fans didn't loose in the SCF. It would have been a bigger embarrassment to the league.. Most of these fans just discovered hockey during the playoffs. This is the best any PHX team has done in years. Makes me glad I'm originally from Tucson. Just so you know, this behavior is typical of ASU fans.

Brown literally had no chance to stop at that point. The referee waited till he was nearly 4 ft across the line before calling to offside. Brown was turning hence the knee being out. The fact of the matter is the 'Yotes were looking for a fight the Kings wanted to play Hockey. Emotions got the best of the 'Yotes and the Kings took advantage. Brown does not deserve a suspension. If Mike Smith gets away with blatantly slashing Brown's knee with an obvious intent to injure there is no reason for Brown to get suspended. He hit with his shoulder, Rozival's head was down going across mid ice. You should know better than to keep your head down in the middle of the ice you will get hit and hit hard.

I'm a Boston fan so no loyalty to this series.. just a longtime hockey fan.
PHX fans need to stop crying... Smith and Doan are the classless. Smith 'HACKS" on players deserved in the crease should deserve a suspension in itself. And why everyone puts Doan on this long time mission to sip from the cups is also ridiculous. The faceoff highstick on Richards was classless along with late hits all series long. The crap from Doan in the handshake line did not surprise me in the least. He is a D-bag ! Bottom line... LA deserves to play for the cup.

I'm surprised the terms "gutless" and "classless" weren't used more in this thread.

The hit is a split second after the whistle. He goes in to throw a shoulder to chest hit and their knees happen to hit, he didn't stick his knee out. Also, you have to take into consideration when you throw a knee on knee hit you're risking injuring yourself and I doubt anyone wants to get hurt in the conference finals.

I'm a Rangers fan and always like Rosival and really don't care about the west. Unbiased opinion here.

I'm not sure Brown should be suspended, but if he gets a game I can understand why; however, the 'Yotes should have definitely been on the power play after that. I also agree with both Kings and Coyotes fans that this was a horribly reffed series. I thought the Flyers-Penguins series was abysmal as far as the refs, but this series takes the cake.

As for the "classless" Coyotes fans, the majority of those people I would bet have never seen a hockey game before Phoenix got out of the first round of the playoffs, so calling them "fans" is subjective.

all the whining about this non-call from phx fans. if this game went the other way kings fans would have more ground to stand on with the soft interference call in their own zone not to mention the blown off-sides with a 4 on 2 in the making (one guy without stick) not to mention a couple of others.

im not a fan of either team (but live in phx tho) but sure became vested in seeing PHX fall after the actions of smith and others - including their fans.

There's no excuse for chirping at the refs after the game like that and there's certainly never an instance when you should be stirring it up in the handshake line. Couple that with the amount of garbage the "fans" threw on the ice and it's the epitomy of classless.

As Roenick pointed out postgame, while arguing with the shaved-ape Mike Millbury, Brown's knee was out because he was TURNING. You can't turn on skates with straight legs. Isn't physically possible. Combine that with the speed Brown was traveling, the angle he had to take to cut around his teammate to deliver the hit, and the fact the linesman waited till Roszival was four feet over the blue line to blow the whistle, and the circumstances leading up to the hit make it clean. As for the hit itself, he gets him with the entire left side of his body. Watch the recoil from his shoulder contact.

This is hockey. People get hit, and sometimes those hits injure you. The only malicious intent in Brown's hit was to clean his clock with a clean open-ice hit.

The only malicious intent in Brown’s hit was to clean his clock with a clean open-ice hit.

I did. I have a snapshot, though it's crappy quality and I don't know how it needs to be formatted to be embedded in the post. At the time of contact, Brown's leg is between Rozsival's legs, and the entire left side of his body is making contact with Rozsival.

I imagine that after the Coyotes get their chance to see the replay, they'll change their tune and whine that Brown went after Rozsival's head instead.

I'm a Kings fan, so I might be biased, but I definitely think he should be suspended as long as Morris was for his knee-to-knee hit on Scuderi in game three. Unlike this hit, which was Brown's full body into Rozsival and there happened to be leg contact (which was or was not knee to knee depending on your point of view), Morris' hit was undeniably knee to knee exclusively.

Probably many of the same people whining about this are still whining about the takedown of Doan by Doughty not getting a penalty, when Doan's takedown of Richards after a faceoff drew no penalty either.

Dustin brown wears the C. Shamahan doesn't like to suspend top guys. With that said the points about it being a clean hit are missing the point that the whistle had blown and he should have tried to hold up/avoid the hit. If only for a split sec. He didn't. Should have been a penalty. The suspension question is just annoying anymore after every hit. Shammy started this whole mess by not suspending Weber for his WWE move

ABSOLUTELY!!! Brown's behavior the entire series against the Coyotes was nothing short of shameful. Watching the play over and over, from every angle and from every speed, Brown acted with intent to harm, maybe not as bad as the final result, but the intent was still there. He had more than enough time to slow down or stop before slamming into Rozsival.

Do I think Shanahan will actually do anything? NO. Just like he did nothing about Shea Weber slamming someone's head against the glass and various other acts of ridiculous unnecessary violence with intent to harm. Shanahan is a JOKE and the NHL needs to create a better system of dealing with these things. A panel, not just one individual who deals out punishment to those he doesn't like and let's the others walk.

Punishment throughout the NHL is not fairly given out. Some people get punished serverely (Torres) and some aren't punished at all (Weber). There needs to be a better system in place and standards of punishment set forward and given to ANYONE and EVERYONE who breaks the rules.

Brown 100% deserves to be suspended. Not just for one game, but for the rest of the finals. As captain, he should be leading by example, and he hasn't, not just in this series, but all season long.

Whether he led with his shoulder, his knee, his thigh, it doesn't matter. He injured another player and seemed quite happy to do so. He absolutely should be suspended.

That was a disgraceful way to end a series from a league's point of view with continuous bad refs missing blown calls entire game, better yet, entire playoffs. As for Fall down Brown, you are not Claude Lenmuix. He was out hunting coyotes on that play and he should be suspended one that alone.

No, you need to watch it frame by frame, and at all angles, like Shanny does. I will agree with Roenick, there is no way he could have stopped at the wistle. But stop the video at impact. It's Browns elbow and knee simultaneously hitting Rozsival. It's clearly knee on knee. That's a penalty and should be a suspension. But it's King Brown, don't worry LA.

Stop the video on the moment of impact. He clearly did not lead with his shoulder. He led with his elbow and his knee simultaneously. And it wasn't thigh on thigh as some are saying. It was KNEE on KNEE. If the same hit were put on Brown, it would have been a penalty and a suspension. Brown was on hallowed ice the whole series. Captain Doan was not given the same treatment by the refs. Brown flops better than Ginoboli and the refs give him the calls. Doan got a penalty for a face wash this series, not a punch--- a facewash. Come on.
