What this is all about is that it’s the Kings’ second trip to the Finals in their history, and the national media wants to take the credit away from them and cast their accomplishment in a shadow. I won’t be at all surprised if they blatantly root against the Kings in the Finals too.

Mike Smith deserves to be laid up in a hospital bed for a couple of days for some of the crap he pulled. What a coward – whacking people with his goalie stick and then flopping all over the place when anyone comes near him. I’ve been watching hockey for 40 + years now and Smith is easily the biggest chickenbleep I’ve seen.

The hit is a split second after the whistle. He goes in to throw a shoulder to chest hit and their knees happen to hit, he didn’t stick his knee out. Also, you have to take into consideration when you throw a knee on knee hit you’re risking injuring yourself and I doubt anyone wants to get hurt in the conference finals.

I’m a Rangers fan and always like Rosival and really don’t care about the west. Unbiased opinion here.

As for the “classless” Coyotes fans, the majority of those people I would bet have never seen a hockey game before Phoenix got out of the first round of the playoffs, so calling them “fans” is subjective.

im not a fan of either team (but live in phx tho) but sure became vested in seeing PHX fall after the actions of smith and others – including their fans.

There’s no excuse for chirping at the refs after the game like that and there’s certainly never an instance when you should be stirring it up in the handshake line. Couple that with the amount of garbage the “fans” threw on the ice and it’s the epitomy of classless.

Now, if he comes back from the suspension and does it again, I’m cool with it.

This is hockey. People get hit, and sometimes those hits injure you. The only malicious intent in Brown’s hit was to clean his clock with a clean open-ice hit.

I imagine that after the Coyotes get their chance to see the replay, they’ll change their tune and whine that Brown went after Rozsival’s head instead.

Probably many of the same people whining about this are still whining about the takedown of Doan by Doughty not getting a penalty, when Doan’s takedown of Richards after a faceoff drew no penalty either.

Do I think Shanahan will actually do anything? NO. Just like he did nothing about Shea Weber slamming someone’s head against the glass and various other acts of ridiculous unnecessary violence with intent to harm. Shanahan is a JOKE and the NHL needs to create a better system of dealing with these things. A panel, not just one individual who deals out punishment to those he doesn’t like and let’s the others walk.

Punishment throughout the NHL is not fairly given out. Some people get punished serverely (Torres) and some aren’t punished at all (Weber). There needs to be a better system in place and standards of punishment set forward and given to ANYONE and EVERYONE who breaks the rules.

Brown 100% deserves to be suspended. Not just for one game, but for the rest of the finals. As captain, he should be leading by example, and he hasn’t, not just in this series, but all season long.

Whether he led with his shoulder, his knee, his thigh, it doesn’t matter. He injured another player and seemed quite happy to do so. He absolutely should be suspended.
