So how about updating the story with JP’s statement that he issued to the media after everyone went nuts with this story? JP issued a statement that he was very disappointed that Newsday took his comments out of context and that he has not even spoken to Zach about anything but the playoffs and that is where his focus is right now: blogs.northjersey.com/blogs/fireice/j.p_parise_i_would_never_speak_for_zach_under_any_circumstance/

I guess Newsday and sports bloggers have about the same amount of journalistic integrity.

The Wild will have 17-18 million in cap space available. They are all in on both Suter and Parise. Parise will sign 6 years 52 million (minimum) and Suter will get 6 years 48 million. Everyone counts the Wild out, but I bet they get at least one, if not both.

Look at ALL of the numbers boss: those 3 for the Caps= $20.7M. Between Queen Henry’s contract (6.9), Richards (6.6), Gaborik (7.5) there’s $21M. Then you have Cally (4.2), Duby (4.2) and the handful of youngster’s the Rangers need to keep on board, so how do the Rangers facilitate the cap room for Parise? Not like they’re sitting on a ton of space either…

The Capitals? With what cap room? Ovi’s hit is 9.5 million (thru 2021), Backstrom’s is 6.7 million (thru 2020), Laich’s is 4.5 million (thru 2017) and you can expect a cap hit of 8 or 9 million wherever Parise goes. So 4 players take up half the cap space (and are signed long term)? You do realize you have to have at least 20 players on a team right?

It wasn’t a “horrendous” signing for the Rangers. He had 70 points his first year, 58 his second and then got traded for Ryan McDonaugh. How is that “horrendous”? Sounds good to me.

In all seriousness, the Caps need to take a run at bringing him in.

Also in all seriousness, there’s no way way a team with no coach and a few key players in limbo (Semin, Green) will have a legit shot at Parise.

Sidebar: I vote Oates to leave his current gig and come coach. Simply because I see no other options out there.

I think a player like Zach would fit in with almost any team in the league. This guy plays in every situation and plays with discipline. He can score you goals or play solid D. Would love to have him on the pens but KNOW that will never happen.

Peluso had success with the Devils? By the way, i dont think he ever played for the Rangers.
Gomez panned out pretty well for the NYR, sather was able to trade him to MTL, getting higgins and most importantly ryan mcdonagh, he fleeced them. He later landed prust that season by trading higgins. Not to mention, he freed up the cap space that gomez was making to sign gaborik. he stunk with NY but was a blessing in disguise.
