PHT’s Morning Skate takes a look around the world of hockey to see what’s happening and what we’ll be talking about around the NHL world and beyond.

AHL Abbotsford Heat coach Troy Ward is the favorite to become the Calgary Flames next head coach. Although if you asked him to, he wouldn’t bet any money on him getting the job. (Calgary Sun

Justin Faulk might be able to parlay his success with Team USA in the 2012 World Championships into an invite for the 2014 Winter Olympics. (Raleigh News & Observer)

Denver Post writer Adrian Dater is fed up with Rangers coach John Tortorella. It has gotten to the point where he wants to see the media “boycott his tired act.” (Denver Post)

If the Detroit Red Wings don’t get Ryan Suter and Zach Parise, are Barret Jackman and Alexander Semin plan B? (Detroit News)

New Jersey Devils’ Travis Zajac didn’t think the lengthy delay in the second period because of problems with the penalty box door was “that funny.” (The Bergen Record)

Will the Ottawa Senators go after Zach Parise, if he becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer? Do they even have a realistic shot at him if teams like Detroit enter the mix? (Ottawa Sun)

George Parros, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, is still waiting to hear back from the Anaheim Ducks. (Orange County Register)

The Washington Capitals will need to appoint a third head coach in two seasons. Unfortunately, teams that have gone through coaches just as fast usually end up suffering through a rough patch. (Washington Post)

Detroit wont get both Parise and Suter.

Totorella is obviously a sore loser and a whiner.

If Ottawa nabbed Parise, I dont think that would really make a tremendous improvement. Its their D that needs the defensive upgrade more than anything.

“It’s their D that needs the defensive upgrade more than anything.”

Defensemen aren’t the only ones who play defense. Parise wins battles and plays hard on both ends.

Once again, Detroit is only a couple players away from reloading as Cup contenders.

Guys like Parise, Suter or Semin, Jackman would much rather play for a proven organization/chemistry, than ‘hope’ they can make teams like the Caps, Sens, Canucks better.

Of course – no guarantee either way, but if given the choice… they’d be wearing the Winged Wheel jersey. Holland, Babcock, Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Howard, and some VERY good upcoming youth. No brainer.

Haha… how do you ‘thumbs down’ truth?

      Let’s Go RED WINGS!

The Wings will still draft well and teach their younger players how to play Red Wing hockey.
When you have Kenny Holland, Jim Nill and Håkan Andersson calling shots and evaluating players you will always be ok.

    In case you didn’t know…

Scouting God who could have turned around many a franchise, thankfully it was the Wings

I say pursue Parise, skip Suter and play Brendan Smith instead and get a backup D-man. Problem solved :)

      Clever!
