brian, i see you fanboy-ing around PHT, commenting something generically corny on every rangers article during the past week. I commend your dedication and you should feel free to downvote my post, as will many others I’m sure. I really couldn’t care less though, anybody who has watched hockey throughout this past decade will agree with me that Mike Rupp isn’t relevant. Good luck in the series, may the best team win as always.

He signed for two years with the Pens in 2009. In the 2010 playoffs, they lost to Montreal in Round 2. Last year, of course, they got bounced by Tampa in Round 1.

Well, biffnasty, it’s pretty simple. Mike Rupp is largely irrelevant when you look at the overall makeup of a team. The guy has averaged under 10 points a season for his entire career and his virtually no talent. He is a big body who can stand in front of the net and eat icetime. Guys like that are easily swapped in and not. Not only that but he is classless, ie his Jagr salute during the winter classic which was pretty embarrassing given his track record, mocking perennial all-start and future hall of famer. I am a Devil fan and although his goal in the Stanley Cup finals against Anaheim was meaningful, it was merely being at the right place at the right time and the guy has never been a really positive contributor to any team, period.

Idk why he doesn’t play more, he is not the most skilled offensively, but seems every time he is on the ice he creates a scoring opportunity
