I almost choked when you said espn might talk hockey. They cover every other sport first before bringing up NHL games even in the playoffs. They had the first round of college lacross on before the Kings/Coyotes game. They would put underwater basketweaving and soap carving on before hockey. espn shows a distinct bias against hockey and always has.

Don’t forget too that the AMGEN Tour of California (a bike race) is ending at the LA Live on Sunday around noon too. Apparently, they’re crowning the victors there too. Gotta say that I love how active/busy downtown LA has become.

I tend to agree with you, but I think the leagues talk to each other and trump arena owners.

In this case, the Kings do own Staples Center (same ownership group). However, it appears they have little say as to what day (and indeed what time) the Kings will play. For example, the Kings played at 12 noon for game 4 against St. Louis and they will have another game 4 against Phoenix at 12 noon as well. The Kings generally play horribly in afternoon games and I am sure the Kings ownership would not want this, but if NBC wants a 3 p.m. EST game, they get it.

I don’t want to complain but I think NHL teams that own arenas i.e. Need to better control over booking in playoffs. The first round schedule was spread out because of arena booking I.e. Nickleback and coldplay, NBA, arena football etc.

Not a problem, zillabeast. I was at game 4 in the St. Louis series and we celebrated the last two minutes of the game and about 5 minutes thereafter, and then everyone moved out to L.A. Live and celebrated there.

Besides, any celebration won’t last long. We want the Cup, the real Cup, not the fake WC one. If we get that One, then we will celebrate all night long.

And no one will be kicking us out.
