I want Hunter back too, but why would he address it now? The Caps are in the middle of a playoff run, now is not the time to say whether or not he wants to return next season. Wait until your season is done and then address it.

More interesting question is does Hunter want to coach the Caps next year? As far as I know he hasn’t come out and made a clear statement, but then again he hardly says anything to the press.

I said this in another post, but fits here as well…This team clearly sees that Hunter cares about winning and that’s it. Individual ice time…he doesn’t care. High flying offense and pretty looking goals… doesn’t care. Talking to the media… doesn’t care. Play hard and play the right way or you will sit.

Hunter doesn’t need this job to validate himself. He was perfectly happy owning and running the london Knights. He wasn’t begging to be an NHL coach. It’s really an amazing dynamic going on here in DC. They’ve fallen in line and are playing their guts out for him. Amazing to see the change and I was admittedly a doubter of Hunter through much of the regular season.

I hope he is back next year, but I think it would be pretty cool if he kept this run going a little longer and then walked off into the sunset.

Bruce has made it farther then Dale but the year in, year out failures in the playoffs lowered everyone’s view of him. He has shown no ability to change game schemes to win.

I think most Caps fans saw 24/7 and thought “this is our coach? really? This Haggen Daas guy?”

He has already done just as much as Bruce Boudreau when he was here…. The best BB could do was getting smoked in Game 7 of the Eastern Semis by the Penguins 6-2. The point is BB was here what? 4 1/2 years? Hunter will be back.
