Didn't he take them to the Stanley Cup Finals against Colorado in a losing effort.....?

Larry certainly deserves any head coaching opportunity that he would want. He's earned that. Given what we have gained in terms of a Montreal heart transplant (after all their last Cup was in '93 and NJ's big run of success began with Jacques and Larry arriving in NJ soon after), we particularly couldn't keep him from the Habs.

Having said all that, I kinda hope that Larry sticks with us. Montreal is the ultimate pressure-cooker and the stress of being the head coach is something that Larry cited in stepping away from that role with the Devils (while it's a tough place on coaches it lacks the fishbowl effect of Montreal, to say the least). Does he really need that kind of stress? He has nothing left to prove.

Regardless of his choice, as a Devils fan I can only wish Larry well and be thankful for all of the time we've had him.
