If Washington beats New York. Which very well could happen. I don’t think many people picked Washington, New Jersey, Phoenix and L.A. to be in the Conference Finals. 3 of those teams have never won the Stanley Cup.

I think you over simplilfied when you blame Bryzgalov. He may not have had great stats for the playoffs but mostly because the defense in front of him played so poorly. His stats for the first round just weren’t there but he made most of the key saves. In the second round if it weren’t for some superb play by Bryz The Flyers would have been buried. The Devils had tons of outstanding scoring chances thwarted by Bryz. If he didn’t play as well as he did, there would have been no reason to watch any of the third periods. The Devils simply out worked and played faster than the Flyers. The say each playoff round speeds up a little. The Devils were at second round speed and the Flyers were at regular season speed. Flyers- Don’t even make an offer to keep Matt Carle, as he is a terrible d-man. That would be addition by subtraction. The Flyers played clothesline defense- left Bryz hanging out to dry and that is the reason they are going home.

Have to say I don’t think you can really lay blame in the Flyer camp, the team is solid and the coaching more than adequate. The problem here is with the league and the NHL’s stupid requirement about winning four consecutive playoff series to take out the cup. Maybe they should hand replica Stanley cup’s to every first round winner. Problem solved.

I have been watching hockey for 45 years and have never seen a forecheck like that there was no way the Flyers could prepare for that ! I had never seen a forechecking at that level ever !
