Claude Giroux is bummed out the Flyers’ season didn’t go longer

Imagine being Flyers forward Claude Giroux. Instead of helping his team on the ice and try to prolong the series, he’s in the press box serving a suspension and stuck having to watch the team go down in flames in Game 5 and out of the playoffs.

Giroux did meet with the press after the game and tells CSNPhilly.com’s Tim Panaccio that he believes in his team and wishes things went a lot more differently while giving the Devils a lot of credit.

“They are a good team,” Giroux said. “They played well. They are good defensively. When they had a chance to put it in the net they did. I still think that we are a good team. It should have been a tighter series. We’ve just got to learn from it.”

I can see it now: Claude Giroux playing Marlon Brando’s role in a remake of “On The Waterfront.” I could’ve been a contender! I could’ve been somebody!

Giroux is still awfully young, as are a lot of guys on the Flyers roster and this will make for a major learning experience for them. Losing should spur you on to wanting more and achieving greater heights. We’ve only really seen the start of Giroux’s potential superstar career, now it’ll be on him to step things up next year and try to not be as careless throwing the body.

Sorry, Joe left me on his nightstand this morning while writing this article, his genetically inferior vision kept him from noticing this mistake. We will be reunited and correct these silly spelling, grammar, and syntax errors at some point in the near future.

oh well. we have a young team. there is always next year. i think we’ll be better off next year with a season under these players belt. we’ll be back. good job devils. gl the rest of the way :)

The issue is, teams like the Rangers are younger. Especially on the back line which wins championships.

Can we chill out with all the Flyer articles already? They were a 5 seed and lost to a team that finished one point less than them in the standings….chill

they cant let it go. nbc owns the team, you gotta go to other sites to get away from the flyers bias.

Funny Claude, I’m quite thrilled about your misfortune:)

Maybe it could’ve gone a game longer if he was in the lineup. But I guess headshotting a guy because the refs missed a call was more important to him.

Hey Flyers Fans, you got what you wanted more than anything – YOU OWN PITTSBURGH! Too bad you don’t own the territory right across the Delaware River from Downtown! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    • uncledick - May 9, 2012 at 1:29 PM

      Camden??

      • brian32556 - May 9, 2012 at 4:22 PM

      • spiffy53 - May 9, 2012 at 4:44 PM

thanks uncle, that had me laughing. nothing better than someone trying to be a smart… and then someone showing them up.

    • bennywisest - May 9, 2012 at 1:33 PM

Devils play in Newark (NE Jersey) not Camden (SW Jersery across the river from Philly) …nice try though.

      • brian32556 - May 9, 2012 at 4:24 PM

Wrong bucko! Your buds were planning to claim territory all the way to Madison Square Garden, but you couldn’t even get to Jersey. Suck it up, KNOCK KNOCK, Who’s der? The Philly Losers! hahaha

    • cleverbob - May 9, 2012 at 3:16 PM

  7. sportsfreak13 - May 9, 2012 at 1:26 PM

Philadelphia’s basketball team is the 76’ers the hockey team is the 75’ers!

  8. jkay1818 - May 9, 2012 at 1:28 PM

    Brian,
Flyer fans were salivating at the fact they would destroy the rangers in the eastern finals. Most of the flyer fans on here are decent, then you have the delusional ones. How they are the most complete team and bryz’ is peaking, best young guns in hockey. They should have focused on NJ instead of wishing to play the rangers so they can destroy the atlantic. the pens. devs then rangerss. Need to back off and let the rangers play their game. No one was concerned about Philly. Devils played them exactly how the rangers did and mopped the floor with them. Same way the rangers mopped the floor with them all season. I know, i know, flyer fans telling everyone, regular season means squat. It doesnt but its painfully obvious for every other fan to acknowledge their goalie is terrible, a few of their “young guns” are overrated. Jagr is slow and their D is weak as can be.

    • rpiotr01 - May 9, 2012 at 4:06 PM

I was thinking the exact same thing. The Devils pounded the Flyers the same way the Rangers did because they were playing them the same way NYR did. Aggressive forecheck, beat them up along the glass, work down low, slow the game down, take advantage of inferior goal tending. Flyers, as constructed, don’t have the guts or mental toughness to win that kind of game.

    • spiffy53 - May 9, 2012 at 4:45 PM

jkay, you have zero clue. most flyers fans were dreading playing the rangers. unfortunately, they forgot to gameplan the devils.
