7 goals and 25 assists in his first *full* season (spent half of last year in AHL). Iron man played all 82 games during the regular season. There are plenty of veteran defensemen who can’t muster even those numbers.

I can’t imagine any Habs liking the Gomez trade one bit. We gave up two promising cheap players for one declining very expensive player with a long contract. So sad.

McDonagh’s skating is so good — in addition to his heart, anticipation and willingness to hit — that the offensive production within a year or two will likely be close to the same level as his current skill set. And when that happens, he
will be a perennial Norris candidate for many years to come. Absolutely he’s already one of the best skaters in the NHL, forwards included, when one takes in speed, power, range and especially the sick acceleration he owns.

Unfortunately this does not surprise me at all. Gauthier always reminded me of the character from the Lord of the Rings who was the King of Rohan’s second of command. The weird little black haired creepy guy who kept making terrible decisions.
