Impartial commentators r u kidding me. Milbury can’t stand Ovi and the Caps. They r all over the rangers nuts about how they do this and that and all excited when they block or shoot the puck. They knock the Caps in all that they do and NBC should get rid of themTired of turning the TV down and listing to the commentaries from the radio. And be real you really think that so called interference from By Backstrom should have been called never not in regular season and not now. If it wasn’t slowed down on the replay and picked apart by the unbiased commentators it never seen. You Ranger fans never seez to amaze me you can take a win and everything was fine but if u lose the refs suck the other team cheating that goal shouldn’t have counted . What we have seen in this series is that when the on ice officials call what should be called in the playoffs the mandatory high sticks, delay of games and the taking away of a scoring chances these teams play great entertaining hockey and the better team at the end of that game will win. Unfortunately there have been some inconsistant calls late in the 3rd period, within minutes of each other,that influenced the outcome of two games. In Game 2, Brad Richards interference which was actually called as a holding penalty and Nicklas Backstrom subtle pick which enabled Alex Ovechkin to score the game winner, wasn’t called. In game 4, the non slash and slash calls that this post has previously mentioned that led to the Game Winning Goal. You know there is an issue with the on ice officiating, when an impartial television announcing team on a National Game observes four blatant penalties by one team in real time, that weren’t called by on ice officials. This has been a great entertaining what PlayOff Hockey should be kind of series, one where the best team will deserve to win, hopefully the outcome of the series isn’t influenced by dubious on ice officiating.

This great reading all the whinnying by the Ranger fans. Grow up they lost and that’s it. Ranger Power play sucks anyway the refs could give you 10 extra it wouldn’t matter. Maybe next game the Caps will spot you 2 PP and sit Ovi so you might have a chance That would be a proud way of winning a game. The two PP in triple over-time they couldn’t score all that did was tired out the Caps D. So with that said be some big or woman take the loss and move on When they are golfing next week withBoston you can cry about the noise when they Tee off.

Correct on everything by the Ovi hit. Two minutes was the right call for that hit. If the league wants to do something more about it given his repeat status…. so be it, but the on-ice call was correct.

What non-icing call gave the Rangers a goal? The ref might have waved the icing off when they shouldn’t have, but it didn’t matter since the Rangers got to the puck first anyway. The wave off has absolutely zero outcome on the play. In fact, Washington should have made MORE of an effort to get to that puck since there was no icing on the play…. yet they didn’t.

As for the refs, horrible call at the end yet again. Boyle clearly had his stick chopped and they didn’t call it, yet they call it a minute later against the Rangers? Utter BS. I’m not saying it wasn’t a penelty on the Rangers, but the non-call on whats suppose to be an automatic penelty just before it was awful. Call it all, or call nothing…. but call it even.

OV’s hit on Giardi was dirty. And I’m a Caps fan.

Also, Hunter’s hit on Turgeon happened in the ’93 playoffs. Thats 19 years ago. The passage of time doesn’t make it ok though.

How can any of you say that Ovi should have been tossed and should be suspended with a straight face? He left his skates but barely and the contact was shoulder to shoulder. I agree the refs sucked but they sucked both ways. Get over it and enjoy this great physical series.

In the Boston/Caps series Thomas came out of the crease to put his blocker in Nicky’s face, no call. Holtby puts his blocker in the back of a Bruind, 2 minute penalty.

NHL officiating overall is a joke. Its a contributing factor in why the NHL is #4 in NA professional sports, behind the joke that is the NBA. But to suggest the piss poor officiating favors one team over the other is simply silly. Refs can’t score goals.

Kreider was bound to make a mistake it was a big one but a great shot by OV. Not many players are putting that puck in but OV is one of them and it cost one on the scoreboard. Good job on Torts not talking to much in this one because I had five people watching the game with me and we were betting on the $ amount he would be fined. Hank was a beast in the first and Mcdonagh has to block that Green shot horrible positioning. Artie played awesome hopefully it continues. Glad to see Bickel get more than 5 minutes today. Did not expect this to be an easy or short series lets go blue.

Do not even start with the calls. The refs didn’t miss it they saw it they were terrible today and let it go to pay back the rangers for the horrible call. Only thing is they can’t give back a goal. Some of the worst reffing ever and not only in regards to penalties. The icing on the rangers. They made calls to balance their horrible calls to balance the game instead of reffing the game properly. What a joke.

Yes, I watch other games. Yes, the refs have been bad all around. And when the bad calls help determine the outcome of games, us fans are and should be frustrated.

Put the whistles away. Let the players determine the outcome unless it’s something horribly blatant. (Like an automatic call of the puck being put right in the stands. Whoops, they can’t get that right either!)

They generally do this in game sevens (and the game sevens this season have been generally well-officiated). Why the holy hell can’t they do that for every playoff game? They’re all important.

Goal tending interference calls for caps and flyers. High sticks, slashes and bad hits. It happens all the time. Stop making excuses an just get ready for the next game.

I must have missed that one. Not saying it didn’t happen, I just don’t recall a replay or the announcers talking about it. (NBC coverage isn’t exactly very good. Tons of important replays never shown or started so late that they cut back to live action before the replay is done.)

What a brutally officated game. Boyle’s stick broken no call. Caps players stick broken late in the third of course a penalty. Cally was pulled down trying to clear the puck and the Caps score. Knuble throws the puck into the crowd no penalty. Ovechkin should have been tossed for his hit but he didn’t and he won’t be suspended.

Three huge non-calls gave the Caps this game:
- Boyle’s stick slashed out of his hand. (And then the exact same thing is called on Hagelin leading to the winning goal. Exact. Same. Thing.)
- Uncalled trip on Callahan as he’s about to clear the puck, leading to the winning goal.
- Puck batted directly into the seats by the Caps player’s glove.

Oh, and if you think Ovechkin even gets a second thought on the hit where he clearly launched himself at Girardi’s head, you haven’t been paying attention. Shanahan only suspends non-stars and when someone suffers a serious injury.

Caps in 7. NHL needs to keep Ovechkin around now that Crosby is out.
