in other news… get a life!

everybody hates guys like Burrows and Marchand because they back up their pest play with highlight reel goals… therefore… their easy to hate, therefore… your hate is so transparent.
i couldn’t stand Claude Lemiuex in the 90′s… but he’d be one of my first picks to play on my team

I love the moral outrage at Burrows for biting Bergeron’s finger. I’ll admit – it’s not something you would brag about and it is a completely cheap move but it’s so inconsequential compared to what goes on in any game. Maybe if he bit his ear off a la Mike Tyson you would have a point. Also, when Burrows starts low-bridging and slew footing guys you can lump him in with Marchand but up to this point his biggest crimes have resulted in an oweee for Bergeron and some lost hair for Keith. He’s definitely no saint but he’s a perennial 30 goal scorer who works as hard as anyone and has climbed mountains to get to where he is. You don’t have to like him but you’re way off if you think he had this coming – as you’ve implied.

And to clarify- I wouldn’t want his career or his ability to have a normal life jeopardized. He’s not as bad as some, but I hope something like this makes him re-think the way he plays. Even if he wore my laundry I wouldn’t like him. I don’t like guys that play the way he does. Marchand for example needs to go a good two years without pulling any crap for me to really like him again. I root for him, but the emotional attachment isn’t there. I am not talking about the Sedin jabs either- I love that stuff; nobody is going to get injured from that – other than their pride; that’s being a pest. the slew footing/low hits and the diving/embellishing – I have no tolerance for. seriously -Burrows bit a grown man in the biggest game the NHL had had in a decade (TV ratings) and then went on national television and joked about it. it’s just not what this game needs on any level.

There are a few guys in this league that are spineless weasels. I Hope Raffi Torres blows out both knees and can never skate again. I wonder if staals nuts and Briesbios’ face would agree that he has never really injured anyone.

I’m a firm hater of all the uses of “Karma” on this board in relation to injuries…this is no exception. Let’s not however pretend that because Burrows hasn’t been fined or suspended he is as clean as the driven snow. He’s a rat that not many in the league care for outside of Vancouver. This is fairly standard for players that play the way he does…if he wears your laundry you like him…if he doesn’t you hate him. That said, his rise/story is more than compelling and his respect for playing for his country is entirely admirable. Let’s hope he and the rest of the players suffering from head injuries in the NHL can recover and at the very least lead normal productive lives…

Showing your true colours there pepper. What are we referring to here? Bergeron’s boo-boo? Must be seeing as though Burrows has never really injured anyone in his career. No suspensions, fines etc. But he deserves to have his career threatened right? Did you form that opinion all by yourself or do you get Ron Maclean down there in the States?

Burrows went from being an ECHL no name to skating on the top line of one of the most skilled teams in the league. It’s a hell of a story and great to see him called up to play for his country.

I hope he’ll recover from this supposed concussion in time to play for a medal.
