That being said though, I would have loved to see McGuire get a crack. There’s not too many guys working today with as indepth knowledge of hockey personnel from the NHL to the Major Juniors and beyond as Pierre.

In addition to being a successful NHL player what’s not to like? The NHL isn’t as much fun without one of the Original Six franchises playing at a high level. Its like if the Yankees, Dallas Cowboys, or Lakers weren’t any good. Hopefully, this is a good sign for Montreal—-They have a lot of good pieces on their roster so I think going forward there can be some optimism.

He has done nothing.
He hasn’t helped build that Hawks in any real way, all their groundwork has been done by others. The Habs are just hoping he knows what it takes and be a GM. When he was scouting for the Hawks they never made any great draft picks under him. And the only reason he has the Assistant GM title is because Cheveldayoff was hired in Winnipeg.

I hope it works out for the Habs but I see no reason why it should. It’s a complete shot in the dark hire.
