Unless you are talking about SKA Saint Petersburg which collects ex-NHLers and doesn’t make them work together, then not even that. Most of the Russian/Eastern-European hockey clubs in the KHL are also hockey schools and field their own junior teams. Fielding a player like Alex Semin is detrimental for setting an example to the kids in those hockey schools.

If teams in the NHL were allowed to field major junior teams (which they aren’t allowed to do right now), you may see a similar wariness in signing a guy like Semin.
