So lets see here … Brodeur himself said it wasn’t on purpose and it was what it was. Why is this even a story?

it was pretty clear jvr made contact but you cant tell if brodeur was moving to his left anyway to try to look around him to see the shot. its was just convenient the shot came to his right as he was being “pushed” to his left. good no call, especially in ot in the playoffs. the fall-out is a lot less dramatic with a no-call than it would have been if this was disallowed. you cant hope the refs decide a game in ot like that.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have met brodeur when my uncle sold him a mercedes back in 2006,\; he is the most down to earth simple guy…he’s the definition of class. After seeing this play from all angles I cannot believe he’s really claiming JVR interfered with him…He clearly came out to the top of his crease where JVR was providing a screen. Who contacted who? brodeur made the contact.

Was there contact on the play? Yes, it was clearly visible in the overhead view. However not all contact is interference, and thats the case on this goal. Brodeur is actually the one who makes contact as hes leaving the top of the crease. A good non-call by the refs.

JVR makes contact with Marty’s stick, but JVR is outside of the crease the entire time and was just getting in front of Brodeur, there is nothing wrong with that play. Perhaps, Marty should keep his stick closer to his body next time.

This is NHL problem! The NHL refs call goalie interface extremely inconsistently. I have seen some goalies barely touched and the ref will call it; I have seen others smacked into and the it was not called. Broduer has a good excuse.

Conversely, I saw Tim Thomas wack a Cap with a stick and push another out of the way – no penalty. I saw Holtby push somebody and wham – 2 minutes for cross-checking.

I think the NHL is going to have to enfore that when the goalie is in his own paint – an offensive player cannot make contact with him – regardless of where the puck is. This will actually make the game more interesting!

This is a game that was asking the Devils to take control and they couldn’t when the Flyers came out flat in the 1st. Next two periods were pretty much owned by Philly except for some soft goals… You had an opportunity to steal a game. No dice. That prediction doesn’t look too good.
