It does seem like the Caps fans have not warmed up to Hunter yet. Despite his “illustrious” career there, I think that hit on Turgeon was a blackeye he’ll have a hardtime overcoming.

The Caps needed to play with that kind of spirit earlier in the Second and all of the third period. The hit is a non story on a slow day considering nobody was injured and non penalty was called. This is hockey and hard hitting is a major part of the sport so when Laich shoves Richards after he scores and pops back up its clear it was much closer to a love tap then a hit. I hope both teams raise the level of hitting in the next game!

Punching a guy who is not looking at you, ramming his face into the ice, dropping 230lbs on his head while down, continuing to punch him while he’s knocked out is no code in hockey.

Yea, I do – Bertuzzi was following “the code” as you old-school hockey fans are always talking about. He was trying to get some payback for a teammate. Moore was a coward and refused to answer the bell.

What Hunter did was so much worse – upset that his dumbass mistake caused a goal, he cheap-shots the other player while they are celebrating?

The fact that you’re ignoring intention, and only focusing on the injury that resulted, makes me wonder if you’re actually Brandon Shanahan – but I doubt he’s dumb enough to be a teabagger, so probably not haha!

It’s Katie Strang of ESPN, not Strange. (An avoidable error. But what else is new on this site?) That aside, and I’m a Rangers fan, the Hunter hot on Turgeon was a thousand times worse that Laich’s on Richards.

The comparison with Dale Hunter’s penalty could have been brought up without trying to imply that Richards was taking a shot at him & The Caps. I get the impression he was just saying he doesn’t care about it if he got a goal & didn’t suffer an injury.

I’m a Caps fan, and I pretty much agree. At least he should’ve lost a year of play, like Bertuzzi (although what Hunter did was worse).

As for Laich, it was cheap. Tensions run high in the playoffs. Hope the Rags falter in the next game.
