After all, the NHL is actually two teams short for its four conference realignment. While they seemed fine going forward with two eight team and two seven team conferences…. it would be a lot better (and lead to less complaints) if there were just four eight team conferences instead.

So with that in mind, expansion for the 2013-2014 season seems possible should the league and the NHLPA come to terms on realignment.
