Video: The best of Mike Smith’s great Game 6 saves

Apr 23, 2012, 11:20 PM EDT

If there were any holdovers who wondered if Mike Smith‘s regular season brilliance could carry over to the playoffs, the Phoenix Coyotes netminder has likely put those doubts to rest after six almost exclusively fantastic games. Numbers aren’t always as sexy as highlights, however, so this clip should be as convincing as any statistical eyebrow-raiser:

That wasn’t the only time Smith robbed someone – Brendan Morrison included – but it might be the moment that lives on longer than all of the rest. There are plenty of great saves to choose from, though.

(H/T to Kukla’s Korner for the vid.)

ewwwwwwww lol. This playoff season is fantastic. Talk about upsets, has one favorite’d team made it to the next round? No. Thats awesome and makes for different and interesting hockey. Admit it, its boring seeing the same teams in the playoffs. this year there’s fresh and new blood in the Playoffs. Awesome.

What are Blackhawk fans going to complain about now?

    • comeonnowguys - Apr 24, 2012 at 10:26 AM

      That you’re not sterile.

I’d take Mike Smith on my team any day. Solid goaltender

Wisbadg. You’re such a troll man. You make ashamed to be from Sconnie. Troll under a different name please.

Complain all you want. This isn’t a Blackhawk site so us Coyote fans can respond to articles and not be trolls.
This is the point where you say that Hayes got robbed cause Rozsival was flopping and acting and the Hawks never act in such a manner.

PS, Enjoy the off-season. GO YOTES!!!!

        Pretty sure that’s trolling.

Of course Hayes didn’t get robbed in that call. That was boarding. Stalberg’s four penalties last game? Earned every single one.

Doesn’t change the fact there were some terrible calls to go against the Hawks in this series. Not quite as bad as Sharks/Wings a few years ago, but it’s up there.

Enjoy your first and last series win. Unless you plan on following your team north.

    blackhawk down!

Hawks fan. That one stung. Vintage PHX game there; Hawks dominated the first 2 periods, Smith was huge and the offense was able to counter attack and wear out the D. Credit to the Coyotes, they were just the better team this series. Great matchup though, 5 OT games. Gotta love playoffs.

PS Shouldn’t this be one of those black and white backwards playoff commercials? I don’t think those should ever be off the air…

    @comeonnowguys

Trolling would be if this was ProBlackhawksTalk.com. If I were posting those on that site, then yes, that would be trolling.
This article was about the Coyotes. “The best of Mike Smith’s great Game 6 saves”.
Unfortunately, you’re the one trolling. Sorry….not as sorry as the Blackhawks with a man advantage but I am sorry you don’t know the difference.

    Enjoy the off-season.
