Chad, you have to consider all the dynamics of your W-L against the Blues. You guys won 3-4 of those games in shoot out. There isn’t a shoot out in the playoffs. We skated circles around the Preds in regulation. Halak is not the best shoot out goaltender. That is a fact. It’s going to be different in the SC playoffs

Credit where credit is due: The Blues out worked, out hustled, and out played the Sharks for pretty much every period of that series. The Sharks had very little time to do anything at all and weren’t very comfortable on either end of the ice.

As for what the Sharks can do? We still need a legitimate minutes eating defensemen who’s actually a bona fide shutdown guy with size and snarl. Vlasic is supposed to be that guy, but he’s 6 foot, 200 pounds, smaller than most forwards he needs to be able to push around (which he can’t really do). He’s a great defensemen, but he would be an amazing compliment to that type of player. Boyle and Burns are redundant and unnecessary, IMO. Boyle’s still really good, but I like Burns better (and he’s locked up longer and plays well with Murray), so I’d try and get Boyle moved (though with a NMC that’ll be fun). With our top 6, Thornton, Pavelski, Clowe, Couture, and Havlat I’d keep. I’d think about moving Marleau, but again, with a NMC, it’ll be hard to try and move him and get anything good in return. So if you could possibly dump Boyle and Marleau for some 3rd/4th line guys and picks, and somehow sign Sutter, I’d be happy. And there’s a bunch of guys who I think could do well on the 2nd line that are UFAs, but there’s not a lot to choose from in the UFA market this season.
