What is Shanny waiting for? To see if Hossa will play on Saturday? Certainly he did not wait as long to see if Smith is OK after the collision with Shaw… It is getting better and better. I’ve lost any respect I ever had for Shanny.

The delay mitigates against further success by the Hawks: recalling last year’s playoffs, the Hawks used the Torres hit on Seabrook to rally a massive comeback that missed by half an inch when Sharp just caught the goalie’s pad on a series winning overtime thrust in game seven [ Burrows was allowed to catch, then throw the puck toward the net in time to step into a screamer for the win; speaking of variable rule interpretation by weak-kneed officials ]? If Torres is back while the present series continues, the Hawks would have Torres to focus Blackhawk hate and there are only two greater motivators than hate, one being money and the other being the ‘other’! Were Torres to return as it appears he might if Hawks are eliminated, he’ll return after the series is concluded, and the traveling minstrel show that is the NHL head office will give us the full song and dance but instead of black-face, we’ll have egg-face and plenty of it! Yolking aside, one may ask…why? Franchises struggling to make payroll or survive in their market have historically found themselves on the favorable side of rulings on and off the ice pretty much since 2004 and 2006 when Calgary and Tampa and Edmonton and Carolina all cried poverty! In 2012, we have Nashville and Phoenix in the same straits, so look for Gary and Brendan to put on their chef’s hats real soon? Omelette anyone…

I obviously have nothing on which to base this opinion other than my own personal hunch, but I don’t expect to see Hossa again this series … and probably not the next, if the Hawks are fortunate enough to advance.

I dunno. If they were gaming for a suspension, the Hawks would be unofficially fanning the flames of this whole “broken jaw” rumor that really hasn’t gone anywhere since Tuesday night. Assuming they play games with their lineup like Tippett.

But it sounds like they’re treating this like any other major injury, with a giant stonewall.
