Look, I’m no fan of Collie. He did not discipline the cheapest of career ending hits by Cooke on Savard because of a petty grudge. Fact is he recused himself on Bruins discipline and the facts and suspensions and evidence bear that out. The idea that supplementary discipline had anything to do with the Bruins winning the cup last year is just a complete and total fiction and if you want to perpetuate that by all means have at it.

Bottom line is, remove all doubt. You can come up with stats, the other side can come up with anecdotes. Neither side SHOULD need any ammo. The NHL knowingly allowed a serious conflict of interest to exist, even after evidence that it affected day-to-day operations.

That is embarrassing, and I don’t care who you are. If I’m a Bruins fan, I don’t want people to be able to point to something as an asterisk, regardless of whether you think it’s viable or not.

Since 2008, Bruins players have been suspended a total of 16 games. 15 of the 16 games have come since Gregory Campbell joined the team.

Repeating the nonsense must make it easier to believe.

Can you imagine with all the controversy and issues that Shanahan is dealing with in these playoffs, if he had a son playing for one of the teams involved?

How crazy would that be? Suspending players on teams your son might play down the road. Exerting his influence on suspensions involving his young fella’s team. Well I bet there would be outrage across the league. The media would be in a frenzy. Politicians would get involved. The league would be subjected to unending ridicule.

Whew, good thing we never have to worry about that.

Shanahan has made some questionable calls, but Colin Campbell was an utter disaster. The two don’t even compare. I to this day can’t understand how someone with such an obvious conflict of interest was kept in that high of a position, especially after the Savard flap.

The Bruins were a very good team and there’s a good chance that having Greg Campbell’s daddy in that position didn’t affect their Cup run, but the fact that there could even be a question of it is still an embarrassment for the league.

really collie, you understand how difficult the job is?? Sure seemed like it was pretty easy for you when you did it. All you did was throw the book at everyone without an ounce of consistency except when it came to your weasel of a son’s team and you refused to suspend any of them. You are a joke and the reason shanny has failed at trying to fix the mess you created. You are about as good to the league as an NHL team in Atlanta.
