PHT Extra: Making sense of Penguins, Canucks’ struggles

Apr 17, 2012, 8:42 PM EDT

Even if you didn’t make Pittsburgh Penguins-Vancouver Canucks your 2012 Stanley Cup prediction going into the postseason, chances are you didn’t foresee them trailing both first round series 3-0, either.* PHT’s own Jason Brough and Mike Halford try to make sense of the almost unthinkable situations the two contenders find themselves in as part of this video segment.

    ACHTUNG O’BRIEN !

Actually, there isn’t really much to make sense of, period. With the lone exception of the Sedin brothers, what you otherwise have here with the Penguins and Canucks are two teams which were inexcusably “intoxicated” by their own self-worth and grandeur ! But after only three games in, it now appears that “all’s” not exactly the way it was supposed to be, is it ? So who’s fault is that ? Well with all due respect sir, I would suggest to you that the answer to that lies directly on “your” doorstep ! … yes, “you” and your confederates there at PHT ! You people, who always claim to have the answers to everything, always ever mindful of the “man” and the almighty dollar. Well looky here ! … the Kings and Flyers are now on the verge of making “you” people look stupid and there isn’t a thing you can do about it !

What’s with the exclamation points followed by the ellipses? Does that mean you made your point and then… thinking about another? I’m not one to defend any editorial, but yes, the guys to write prohockeytalk are paid to discuss things. I love it when people use the term “with all due respect”, because the next thing said is usually nowhere near respectful.
I’m a Penguins fan, and well, the Flyers are playing better, much better. I leave it at that. They deserve this series right now. Could that change? Sure, unlikely, but sure. You fault prohockeytalk for taking a team with 2 high scorers and saying they’re good?
This is like getting pissed at the weatherman for predicting heat in July and a storm breaking it up. Its fine. I’m fairly certain that talking about “the man” is quite misplaced. And who’s to say that they are not Canadian, so you can’t say the “almighty dollar” without at least factoring in some sort of exchange rate.
This was an article, one written to help explain why things are. I’m good with that. I’ll read another again.

Don’t make hockey articles into the Roe v. Wade. Enjoy it. Like it, or not like it, but then, turn the TV on, there’s sure to be hockey on somewhere!

      “I’m a Penguins fan” ? …

Well God bless you, as the good Lord loves everyone … even “you” people !

Seriously man, I’m not sure that I’m catching your drift here? Deceitful weathermen ? … Roe v Wade ? … the “man” and currency exchange rates ? … it’s like, just what the hell are you talking about ? Anyway, since there’s no telling what your angle might be, I’ll just level with you instead. The bottom line is that this PHT writer O’Brien “purports” to be dumbfounded by the current predicaments of both the “0 & 3″ Penguins and Canucks ? Well in response to that I say “my ass” in so many words … like can ya dig that ? In all seriousness, I’m on record here at PHT since December, declaring that the Kings are a team to be reckoned with, all the while being ridiculed and scorned for doing so. And now here we are on April 17th and lo and behold, looks what’s happening ? If it means anything to you at all, please know that I’ve nothing against your team, the “flightless birds” … :)

Judge Blomfeld: the court deems Luongo’s contract to be null and void !

Luongo: no please … I’m very good and I want more money !

Judge Blomfeld: shut up you parasite !

Jason: please your honor … he is a very good goalie !

Judge Blomfeld: silence you fool ! … the court finds the both of you guilty !

Luongo & Jason: what ? … no please … all we want is more money !

Judge Blomfeld: Guards ! … take them away !

Luongo & Jason: no please !

      Guards: shut up you idiots ! … KAPOW ! … KABOOM ! … KAZAM !

Blomfeld, you sir are a national treasure.

I love it! You must have a deal with Dell or Hewlett Packard though. Your posts have more periods than a Hemingway novel.
Ok. I’m glad the Kings are a team to be reckoned with, but you seem like a hockey fan and I know that you’re not breaking out the champagne at game 3 of the first round. That’s a low bar for sure. I have nothing against the Kings whatsoever but they’re one of my lucky square teams so I will say Go Kings.

I do appreciate the Batman TV show sound effects, even if they seem to be around morse code. Excellent job! Lets hope today is not the end for the Pens.

I’ve been reading PHT since KB went off the air (it’s on again!) and have successfully avoided registering for yet another website.

It’s the same hassle every time:

Username… unavailable, please try again – 45 try’s later and you have a bad version of the name you actually wanted (I can’t believe sevencostanza was taken…)

Password… MUST include at LEAST 1 number and 1 UPPERCASE character – so you make up a password and save it into the password memory bank thing on your computer, never remember it again, and end up having to request a new password when you try to log in on a different computer. Also, they want the password twice, so you’d better get it right or else you’ll be filling out the form all over again.

    e-mail… NO, I DON’T WANT YOUR NEWSLETTER.

Anyway, I’ve had it in my head since reading PHT that I wouldn’t make an account. The hassle is too much and there is literally no reward for arguing with people on the internet about hockey.

But then… Blomfeld’s nonsense comment inspired me to say something, in hopes that other people might just think he’s as ridiculous as I do. What in the **** is that comment about? Does that make any sense? Is this guy on drugs?

    Se7encostanza: SHUT UP BLOMFELD.

Just one thing. The Kings lost 2 very important games against the Sharks right before the playoffs. Lost the division and the 3rd seed. Instead it was 8th place and a series against Vancouver and look what happened. They rebounded with 3 straight wins over the Canucks. They are ready.
