Here’s my take on it: the point of contact is fine, it’s not a headshot but there is some issue with it being late, as Henrik had time to pass the puck, then turn around to go to the bench before he got hit.

What I don’t like about the hit is the fact that Henrik did have to turn around immediately prior to the hit to get the the bench. Why is that bad? Because that’s the only way Brown hits him in the chest. Brown had him lined up the whole way with #33 being the only thing he can see, rather than it being a reaction to Henrik having turned around. What was Brown going to do if Henrik didn’t turn around? Slam on the brakes and hug him? Run right through him anyways?

- If he did have enough time to setup the hit only once Henrik had turned around (or stop if Henrik didn’t), it was definitely late and very much like Rome’s SCF hit in that it was otherwise clean.
- If he didn’t have time to react to Henrik turning around, then he was clearly planning to hit him from behind, which is also an issue.

Either way, it’s clearly something that warrants discussion around supplimental discipline

He got the wind knocked out of him from landing on his back. He had the presence of mind after the hit to knock on the bench door to try and get someone to open it, but he wouldn’t have been able to say anything with his wind knocked out.

They’ve been doing that for a while in L.A.- the Kings actually got a butt-chewing from the NHL years ago for having Cartman on the Jumbotron chanting “Paaatrick… Paaatrick…” during playoff games against Colorado years ago when Patrick Roy was still in their net. The league didn’t appreciate the official scoreboard being used to taunt a player, I guess.

I’m sure they were evaluating him, but it seems that teams don’t really adhere to that “quiet room” thing because he was only gone for about five minutes.

Clean hit. People are going to say Sedin is a baby for going off but if you’ve been rocked like that you know it hurts like hell. I give him props for coming back so quick.

Wow…doesn’t Brown know the Sedins are untouchable? MPs in BC will be calling for a parliamentary inquiry if Dustin gets anything less than the gas chamber! That hit should crank the Vancouver puke meter into overdrive…the dirty looks and scowls alone are bound to frighten kindergarten classes Canada over!
