Bieksa: Canucks have Kings “right where we want them”

For a team down 3-0, the Vancouver Canucks are remarkably positive.*  Henrik Sedin shared his belief that the Canucks are wearing the Los Angeles Kings’ defense down while Kevin Bieksa just Tweeted this amusing bit of optimism.

“Good re-group today for the boys! Lots of team bonding … Got these guys right where we want them!!”

Maybe it just takes a special kind of optimism to be a member of this Presidents’ Trophy-winning Canucks team after that grueling 2011 Stanley Cup finals loss. Perhaps Vancouver merely remembers the Chicago Blackhawks’ near-comeback in last year’s first round quite vividly.

Either way, the Canucks are in a rare “Nothing to lose” situation, which might just make them dangerous (or charmingly delusional, you be the judge).

* – Then again, they might just have a healthy sense of whimsy.

Thanks for the text book definition of delusion

I don’t see how such a ridiculous statement can possibly help your team mentality. If anything I would think it just lowers the credibility of anything else BIeksa says even to pump up his teammates. “Delusion” really is the only way to describe it.

Are you expecting him to say, “F***, I hope I can get a tee time this week!”? Guy is just trying to motivate his team any way he knows how.

The funny thing is there not Chicago and won’t be comming back. Only a Canuck player would think they are wearing down the kings defense down. Really that’s not what I see, I see the kings back checking strategy and defense shutting down. The Canucks giving them only shots to quicks LA crest right in the bread basket. Who cares if you out shot them or think you out plate them that’s how defensive teams with good goalies play they wear down and down right frustrate the other team then pounce on there chances and bounces when they get them. What do they expect when your leave Dustin brown completely open in front of the net. Also if they think having Daniel sedine coming back is going to be there savior. A guy struggling all year is really going to save the series come on. There series is good as done we already saw in last years scf how they work under pressure hence being shutout in game 7. The Canucks have no heart or identify. There a soft team that would rather dive and flop to draw calls then play really hard and get results. Even when they get a power play there so sloppy now. Hedrick is nothing with out his bro he’s completely Lost. Bieska instead if blocking the shot on Mitchell’s goal in game 1 he runs out of the way to avoid it. It’s a complete disgrace.

I don’t think you wrote enough. Who actually read the whole comment or checked out upon seeing the size?

      • taytay099 - Apr 16, 2012 at 11:34 PM

I stopped reading after “The funny thing is there not Chicago and won’t be comming back.”

friend … your comments are well received … :)

Does Canuck team bonding include an exercise where Kevin demonstrates his perfect form for cowering away from an oncoming slapshot ?

  4. bigtganks - Apr 16, 2012 at 11:25 PM

Give me a break. I’m a huge Canucks fan, and if anyone takes that serious, you’re delusional. Bieksa’s obviously saying that tounge in cheek because no one wants to be down 3-0 or thinks that’s good in any shape of form.

Whoever thinks he’s serious is the delusional one. Do I beleive they THINK they can come back? Sure, one game at a time, yadda yadda… Do I think ANYONE thinks it’s good to be down in a series in ANY way? No.

  5. DTF31 - Apr 16, 2012 at 11:25 PM

What do you expect them to say? “We’re boned, who wants to get sauced?”

    • oside760 - Apr 17, 2012 at 2:43 AM

u said that last time doucher

We LA Kings fans realize that it would be very foolish to take these people for granted. Sure they come off as a bunch of “quacks” with their diving, cloning, swarming and crazy talk, etc. However, it’s been well known for years that both the Canuck’s management and their fan base are a very “mentally unbalanced” group of people. So it’s not surprising to see that the players themselves may now be succumbing to this illness as well ? At any rate, there’s only one way to deal with this type of person and that is to deal with them in a “swift and ruthless” manner ! So on Wednesday, it’s absolutely essential that we Kings pounce on these “psychopaths” right from the start ! We have to hit these people with such force that they won’t even realize what’s happened ! … and then we have to hit them again and again ! Don’t kid yourselves friends, these Canucks are now like “cornered rats” who will lunge at our throats if we give them just the slightest chance … and there’s no way we’re going to let that happen, eh ?

Come on boys … just one final push and we’ve done it ! :)

Your posts always make me think you’re the editor of a newspaper. You’re good at making the eye-catching titles like “ARE THE CANUCKS PSYCHOPATHS ?” There are a few more, but I can’t remember them off the top of my head.

  8. oside760 - Apr 17, 2012 at 2:42 AM

    vancooter really is stupid.

  9. donttoewsmebro19 - Apr 17, 2012 at 8:27 AM

Why don’t he do it on the ice and block a shot and play better D

  10. oscojoe - Apr 17, 2012 at 8:41 AM

Canucks have the talent to come back and win the series; the question is do they have the character to do it?

  11. michiganhockey11 - Apr 17, 2012 at 9:34 AM

As sad as this may be, if things turn out in a certain way for the Western Conference, the league will hate the ratings from TV. We could possibly see in Rd 2

    St. Louis

That just sucks. Picture this for a finals…..Nashville and Florida. If that happens, Bettman should just close up shop.
