Arron Asham will be in big trouble for his cross check on Brayden Schenn

Apr 15, 2012, 5:42 PM EDT

Part of the ugliness that unfolded during the first period of today’s Game 3 between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia involved former Flyer and current Penguins tough guy Arron Asham.

Asham didn’t much care to see Flyers rookie forward Brayden Schenn deliver a big hit along the boards and took matters into his own hands. With his stick. Asham caught Schenn with a cross check to the throat and then delivered a punch to the back of Schenn’s head while he was laid out on the ice.

Asham received a match penalty along with a five-minute major and a game misconduct for his heinous actions while Schenn was assessed a dubious minor for charging. Expect Brendan Shanahan to weigh in in a big way on Asham for his uncalled for hit on Schenn. Schenn, meanwhile, remained in the game. Take a look at how things unfolded for yourself.

Asham is the epitome of classless. Fits right in in pitt.

    • eigglesnosuperbowls - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:23 PM

Can you believe Schenn received a two min minor on this play ! I defy anybody to find it !

      • danner50 - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:52 PM

        see the definition of charging

      • eigglesnosuperbowls - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:02 PM

You joking right schenn has been cleanly destroying penguins all series the refs arm does not go up for the clean hit by schenn it goes up for the coward a-shame

      • faminemk - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:26 PM

Schenn left BOTH feet during the hit. Agree with Danner50. See definition of charging and see Flyers Rinaldo suspension for nearly the same thing in early February. This could have been a good solid hit. He launched himself and should be suspended.

      • eigglesnosuperbowls - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:31 PM

        You must be arron asham

      • faminemk - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:39 PM

When you can type, spell and capitolize better than a 15 yr old girl text messages, come back and talk… till then keep trolling your little kid forums.

“When you can type, spell and capitolize better than a 15 yr old girl text messages, come back and talk… till then keep trolling your little kid forums.”

You spelled capitalize wrong, you used an ellipse incorrectly, you wrote till instead of until, you meant to say “than a 15 year old girl(‘s) text messages” and just about everything you wrote is improper grammatically in every way. If you are going to be a sorry loser and pick on people’s grammar online, make sure your grammar is not horrible as well.

      • fbothharbaughs - Apr 16, 2012 at 5:53 AM

& yet, the Iggles still have no super bowls…

      • ml3939 - Apr 16, 2012 at 10:51 AM

@faminemk an danner50, you must be new to hockey. Players making big hits tend to leave their feet at impact due to their momentum and the force of the collision. Sometimes in bracing themselves may slightly elevate immediately before the impact. Neal blatantly left his feet and launched himself when he illegally hit Couturier.

And totally unrelated, I hope danner is your last name and not a Rob Schneider SNL making copies influenced name.

    • miketoasty - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:24 PM

Shocking they got him from Philladalphia.

    • danner50 - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:51 PM

where do you think he was trained to be that way??? filthadelphia

      • delsj - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:12 PM

That’s the best you can come up with? You and miketoasty must make a cute couple.

      • bruinsfan57 - Apr 15, 2012 at 8:32 PM

are you really that stupid? Before he was sin Philly, he played for the devils, before that, the islanders, before that montreal….learn your facts before you spew more nonsense

    • pmac26 - Apr 16, 2012 at 7:23 AM

I love how now that Asham is in a Pens sweater he’s classless…when he was in a Flyers sweater he was a hero!
As a Pens fan I hate what he did yesterday but Flyers fans you can’t have it both ways!!!!!!

  2. 1943mrmojorisin1971 - Apr 15, 2012 at 5:46 PM

He should get suspended for the rest of the series aka one game.

    • stakex - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:48 PM

Thats the sad part. If this happened during the regular season it would easily be a 5-10 game suspension…. yet its probably only going to end up being one game.

  3. orangegesus - Apr 15, 2012 at 5:49 PM

Luckily Schenn is a beast – if that were Crosby, he’d be out until 2016. Schenn didn’t miss a shift.

    • miketoasty - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:25 PM

Luckily it wasn’t Pronger or his career would be over, oh wait.

      • orangegesus - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:57 PM

        His career isn’t

      • orangegesus - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:00 PM

His career isn’t over. He’s on the Crosby recovery plan – miss a calendar year, play three games, then miss two more months. But he back in time for the playoffs (minus the first round exit, of course).

      • mediatedviscera - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:17 PM

        coward…you stupid, arrogant coward.

      • miketoasty - Apr 15, 2012 at 11:39 PM

Oh but sitting here hoping Crosby get’s concussed is any better? Hypocrits everywhere.

    • jason9696 - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:27 PM

Schenn’s a pvssy. He was flopping on the ice like he was really hurt. Of course he’s back on the ice a few minutes later.

      • maalea - Apr 15, 2012 at 10:10 PM

Yea, flopping on the ice. Just like la(poon)tang after Brez’s glove save in game two?

    • tonyromoisterrible - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:37 PM

Crosby was the biggest instigator in this game too. He is the biggest pu55y in hockey. Nothing I like more than watching the flyers whoop sh!tsburgh. I am a CAPS fan and today was awesome!

      • orangegesus - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:46 PM

Is this a Pen’s fan talking about diving?? Now that’s priceless. Almost as priceless as allowing 20 goals in three games.

      • fbothharbaughs - Apr 16, 2012 at 5:56 AM

Caps fans are the most jealous fans in all sports…

      • stepasidesue - Apr 16, 2012 at 11:56 AM

OK, you are all Crosby haters! The caps and the phillies would give their left knut to get him on their team. Oh yeah, he pushed somebodies glove on the ice. Talk about cry babies, oh and, he pulled my hair, whah, whah. The hair pulling was obviously inadvertant. He couldn’t see what he was grabbing and he forget he was fighting a girl!

    • bubba19698 - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:41 PM

He didnt miss a shift because he wasn’t hurt, diving little baby!!

      • gbiscottagecheesefatties - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:47 PM

as a neutral party (Wild fan)

I think it’s hard to say he was flopping or diving on taking a stick to the throat…. That is something that should kill for about 5 minutes and ruin his weekend but wouldn’t change how he plays hockey. So his reaction seems pretty fitting to me laying on the ice….

heck if you think you’re stronger than him, come down to my house and i’ll check you in the apple and see how much you cry.

Flyers are playing like pro’s on a mission…. Pitts is playing like a bunch of spoiled teenage girls.

      • bubba19698 - Apr 15, 2012 at 8:01 PM

        Anytime punk!!

    • ndrdog - Apr 15, 2012 at 11:00 PM

Crosby would have fought back instead of rolling over and covering his face until the “big bad monster” went away.

    • stepasidesue - Apr 16, 2012 at 11:51 AM

Asham was really wrong, however to say that Philly has class is laughable!

    • walleye9000 - Apr 17, 2012 at 7:39 PM

Yet he was on the ice like someone killed him. Or maybe his was acting, i think he was afraid to get up and take his beating like a man.

    • walleye9000 - Apr 17, 2012 at 7:44 PM

A beast he crumpled like a toy. Then layed there like he was dead aka acting like he was hurt . Because he did not want to get up and take his beating like a man. Broad Street Bullys my ass.

  4. icelovinbrotha215 - Apr 15, 2012 at 5:50 PM

Yea, this is what Asham does. He played here in Philly so us fans know the type of style he plays. It was a dirty hit and should be suspended.

  5. jrod691 - Apr 15, 2012 at 5:50 PM

Asham’s actions were totally uncalled for, but why is every big hit charging all of a sudden? Like the Galliardi hit, I see nothing wrong with what Schenn did. He just laid out a player who wasn’t expecting it but the hit itself looked legal.

Big hit does not equal Illegal hit.

    • 1943mrmojorisin1971 - Apr 15, 2012 at 5:53 PM

It’s because referees in the NHL no longer have any idea what they’re doing out there or what the rules are. I think this playoffs has made that perfectly clear.

  6. phillyphever - Apr 15, 2012 at 5:52 PM

It’s gonna be a short one considering Schenn’s alright. I say 3 games is fair.

    • delsj - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:15 PM

All it has to be is 1. That’s all the Pens have left anyway. He might be selling cars in the fall.

  7. trigzter - Apr 15, 2012 at 5:59 PM

    Neal is done too

    • odj810 - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:00 PM

that was god awful. 2 cheap shots. go take care of it.

      • odj810 - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:01 PM

first one wasn’t ahead shot but it was deliberatly late and he left his feet, 2nd one he just tried to decapitate giroux. How can pit constantly yap about injuries and pull what they do? I’m not even a flyers fan but they need a good ass beating.

      • emoser - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:34 PM

They showed their true colors this game. Dive when the game’s still in reach and then take cheap shots once it’s not.

  8. odj810 - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:03 PM

    and then the hair pull?

    • miketoasty - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:27 PM

He was going for the jersey, not his fault he was fighting a woman.

      • emoser - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:34 PM

Keep drinking the kool aid. I’d be embarrassed to be a pens fan right now.

  10. orangegesus - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:06 PM

Pens are an embarrassment to the NHL. Can’t hang on the scoreboard, so time to goon it up. All of North America is laughing at how pathetic you are.

  12. blkeskimo1785 - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:06 PM

Bush League. Straight Bush League crap by the Penguins this afternoon.

  13. bigoldorcafromvan - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:12 PM

Well Rome got 4 games plus last year for a clean hit but late hit in the playoffs. I know this hit is different but in this league with the people running it anything can happen. from the big fine to 5 games which isn.t enough for a head shot. Keith should be gone for the rest of the year because that wasn.t really any different than what Berttuzi done to Moore. Moore.s neck I bet got broken when it was on the ice and all the crap was going on. JMO>

    • themohel - Apr 15, 2012 at 8:20 PM

Crying Nuck fan perhaps? Rome’s hit cannot be ‘late’ and ‘clean’ at the same time. It was as dirty as they come. Keith’s was dirty too, but you might be going a wee bit over the top on the year-long suspension idea. And what does the Moore hit have to do with this? Nothing.

  14. capone2510 - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:13 PM

This is a direct result of the referees failing to take control of the game PLUS failure by the NHL (Shanahan) to send a strong message when he had the chance with Weber. Now we will see a total overreaction by the NHL, and the focus will be on the discipline, not the games. What a shame

    • blkeskimo1785 - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:16 PM

Yup. Had they called a penalty on Neal for the hit on Couturier, or given him a 10 for the charge on Giroux, that additional scrum with Crosby, Adams, Hartnell, and Simmonds wouldn’t have happened. Little things like that.

      • gmk17 - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:16 PM

Still trying to figure out why Simmonds was sent off the ice……..

      • blkeskimo1785 - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:31 PM

It’s because as Neal was heading to the box for his penalty, Simmonds confronted him.

      • ndrdog - Apr 16, 2012 at 10:13 AM

How do you feel about Couturier’s hit on Heal at the end of the first (shoulder to head) when neither had the puck? This is the hit that had more to do with starting all of it but no one seems to want to mention it.

      • ndrdog - Apr 16, 2012 at 11:03 AM

gmk17- FYI Simmonds was sent off the ice because when Neal got the B.S. charging call he left their bench and headed for the penalty box. SImmonds also left the Cryers bench and skated out to cross-check Neal at about mid-ice. That is about half-dozen violations of NHL rules and should definitely carry a suspension if they want to keep pushing the hair-pulling thing.

      • blkeskimo1785 - Apr 16, 2012 at 5:05 PM

ndrdog honestly, I have to go back and look at that, because I missed it. If that was the case, then I kind of understand Neal going back at Couturier. But it appeared he went for Giroux’s head prior to the Malkin-Coburn scrum.

    • bcisleman - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:25 PM

Exactly right…except I don’t think it would be an overreaction. Don’t guess I’ll be seeing any letters to the commissioner by Saint Mario about this one.

  15. hockinj25 - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:15 PM

Penguins have taken over Boston for the honor of dirtiest team in the league.

    • tonyromoisterrible - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:42 PM

I wouldn’t go that far. Did you see Thomas last night? He was interfering just like Holtby did in the previous game and the stinkin refs let him get away with it. Boston is still very cheap as well, but on second thought you are right after that performance today. I hope sid the kid gets his head knocked off.

    • habsman - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:56 PM

Boston is the leader in cheap shot, sucker punching, gutless play.

What you see here in the playoffs is the other teams trying to emulate their cowardly style of play because they won the cup last year with this crap.

      I blame Greg’s daddy Colin.

  16. barcthespark - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:18 PM

The entire Penguins organization has zero class.

  17. phillyphan83 - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:22 PM

As am should be done for the rest of the playoffs, which looks like 1 more game for the Pens. He could possibly face legal consequenses too. Hockey players have been charged with assault before when using their stick like that. I doubt it, but wouldn’t be surprised.

  18. stlmetsfan5 - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:23 PM

This guy should be suspended for the season. And part of next season.

  19. thehighcountrybear - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:23 PM

Good to see the ‘turtle’ can pull the major and a game…you wonder where the NHL is recruiting these clowns masquerading as officials? Schenn got his arms up in anticipation of a hit after knowing full well he’d delivered a goon shot of his own. Asham walks with nothing further, but Schenn’s theatrics and big sell on the Asham hit need looking at. Still, Crosby and the Pens look bad, real bad…they showed they had no class when they won a Cup they didn’t deserve and nothing’s really changed?

    • predswilrule - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:47 PM

      it was a clean hit

      • ndrdog - Apr 16, 2012 at 10:34 AM

Rule 42.1 states : “Charging – A minor or major penalty shall be imposed on a player who skates or jumps into, or charges an opponent in any manner.

Charging shall mean the actions of a player who, as a result of distance traveled, shall violently check an opponent in any manner. A “charge” may be the result of a check into the boards, into the goal frame or in open ice.”

since Schenn clearly left his feet and had traveled some distance to hit a player who was already pinned to the boards by another Flyer (defenseless) the penalty should have been a major if not a match penalty. The fact that Schenn rolled around on the ice like he had been shot and needed to be helped from the ice, until all the penalties were called, and than didn’t miss a shift, shows that a cross-check to the chest pads isn’t as bad as it can appear on TV. Before you say he didn’t miss a shift because of his toughness remember when Crosby was begging him to fight he refused repeatedly. Fu**in’ Pu**y!

    • grandpoopah - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:52 PM

Pens fan whining about the opponent taking a dive. Hilarious. Enjoy watching your butt pirates because your p@ssy penguins are done.

    • themohel - Apr 15, 2012 at 8:27 PM

You really think Asham is going to get nothing?!? You may want him to get nothing, but your head is buried deep in the sand if you think he won’t get anything. He’s going to get the rest of the series and 5-10 to start next year.

  20. eaglesw00t - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:23 PM

Nhl referees have no clue what they are doing anymore. Allowing players to leave their feet and knock players out, and calling nothing. Then calling double minor penalties for a push in the back? They have no idea how to keep games clean and get this crappie to stop.

But, it doesn’t help that Pittsburgh plays dirty dirty hockey. Crosby loves to start with other players, but let’s other guys fight for him. Absolutely ridiculous.

  21. gotampabay52 - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:24 PM

Sorry to all Flyer fans that I have yelled at I now hate Pitt . Neal hou fn puss. Way to go Flyers finish finsih finish them Lets Go Flyers

  22. grandpoopah - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:29 PM

Cheap shots, diving, hitting a guy after the linesman held him, whining about being labeled a whiner, and now hair pulling. That is one exceptional organization you have built there, Mario. You and your punk team should be ashamed. Have fun on the golf course next week, you POS.

        Yes. LOL

    • emoser - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:52 PM

Letang must have won that one… during that fight was the least I’ve seen his head whip back this whole series.

    • thehighhopes - Apr 15, 2012 at 8:55 PM

Timonen is 37 years old and had NEVER gotten in a fight in his career. Letang must be so proud. Maybe he’ll join UFC after his season ends on Wednesday.

  25. vismund11 - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:32 PM

I hope this series has opened eyes and people can see beyond Gary Bettman’s amazingly powerful brainwashing shampoo (probably the same Letang uses on his greasy locks) to realize what absolutely scum pittsburgh is. Exhibit A) Crosby starting numerous fights and finishing 0 of them, wheres that stat Pierre?? Exhibit B) James Neal head hunting and leaving his feet on Couturier, and then following closely up with a head hit on Giroux. This is coming FROM a Flyers fan, Pittsburgh, honestly ,youre better than this cheap stuff. Buttttttt I guess thats what happens when you get out hustled out scored out coached and generally out played. Knock Knock. Doooby Dooby doo and Goodnight. Honey where’s the tylenol.

  27. id4joey - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:40 PM

Schenn leaped before the the hit, and therefore should be suspended at least a game. Neal also left his feet when he hit Couturier and should also be suspended. You can’t do that, and Asham should have just dropped the gloves to spank Schenn. Pens are dead!

    • ndrdog - Apr 16, 2012 at 10:38 AM

Please don’t forget that Couturier dropped his shoulder when he hit Neal in the head at the end of the first and neither had the puck. Why doesn’t anyone remember the bad things that the Cryers do?

  28. jason9696 - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:41 PM

Yeah and the Flyers have always been the cleanest team in the NHL.

  29. jucam1 - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:42 PM

What an embarrassment to the NHL Syd Crosby and his BS team are…. Syd do you know that your teammates have to come and finish the fights you start?…. Neal you’re a thug, and I am so happy to watch a superior Flyers team with class destroy that p**sy Pens team….

    • bubba19698 - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:52 PM

The Flyers have class. seriously? you really believe that? I’m by far not defending the actions taken by the Pens but the referee let this game get way outta hand!! There was a ton on trash talking, slashing, and cross checking that went uncalled!! Kunitz got blasted with 3 cross checks near the front of the net but the ref’s didn’t wanna put filthy down by to a 5-3, so he slashed coburn and got a penalty, that crap went on the whole game, and with frustrated players, and initiation penalty’s being let go, that set the stage for today. Will see how much class your Flyer’s have when the rangers pound them in 4 straight and there on the other end of the pool!!!

      • somekat - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:59 PM

See Voracek’s penalty for not hitting a guy with the stick in the first

See Rinaldo’s penalty (led to a 4 on 4 goal) for getting punched in the face

See Crosby’slack of a unsportsmanlike for knocking away a glove and leading to 3 fights

See Neal leaving his feet to hit Courturier

See Schenn getting a pentalty for a textbook hit

There was not a single penalty on th Pens that was anything but justified. Plus they got away with several good plays, serveral clear dives and again had icings cancelled out costantly for not particular reason

The Pens got demolished by a better hockey team top to bottom. There is no a single aspect of the game, or position (overall, defensemen, fowards, goalie, whatever) that the Flyers are not superior to the Pens. They gooned it up, and both Neal and Asham should be suspended. Neal for 3 games (2 next year after the Pens hit the link Wednesday), and 10 for Asham (The rabbit punch after the stick to the throat adds 5)

      • somekat - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:02 PM

Also, Adam should get a game for 3rd man in. 4 punches to the back of Hartnell’s head. God forbid Crosby would have to fight his own battle, even though he grabbed Hartnell from behind and tried to drag him down like the queer he is

Go watch the video on youtube — Schenn *WAS* clearly airborne during the hit on Martin that preceded Asham’s garbage, and that’s not at all up for debate. To be fair, you can’t tell precisely when Schenn leaves the ice (i.e., if he launches or if he pops up during the collision) because Voracek blocks the one view that would otherwise be good, but it’s pretty damned questionable. If you’re going to call out Neal for it, you gotta call out Schenn, too. But of course, Flyers fans won’t be objective enough to admit that – instead, I’ll just get thumbs down’d by everyone. Fair enough.

One area I agree with you on is Asham – that was embarrassing and entirely uncalled for..

      • ndrdog - Apr 16, 2012 at 10:49 AM

I will mention it again….what about the end of the first period when Coturier dropped his shoulder and hit Neal in the head and neither had the puck? I thought hits to the head were at least a penalty? The NHL needs to adopt the NFL rules about hair being part of the uniform – if you want to ware hair like Side Show Bob than when it gets caught up in your jersey – no whining about it! If my son got into a fight on the ice and came up yelling “He pulled my hair!” I would kick his ass. The officiating in this series (as well as all others) has been pathetic but that doesn’t excuse the thuggery that the Cryers have been employing the entire series. It is funny that when someone gives it back, all their fans cry and shine just as much as they do. It’s like Schenn a few weeks ago “the hit was legal but they were trying to hurt me and I don’t like it so we are going to go after Crosby” or if you prefer this game when Crosby was begging him to fight and he repeatedly refused. Fuc**n’ Pu**y!

      • michiganhockey11 - Apr 16, 2012 at 12:51 PM

I wonder how many fights Crosby has started/initiated, subsequently chose not to throw hands, and then decided to throw uppercuts/jabs after the linesman is trying to seperate them or after the guy is on the ice?

What planet are you from and what game did you watch because I saw the Flyers get their assses beat!! If you can’t beat’em on the ice, beat’em in the alley. The Flyers have turned in to a bunch of wussies, turtling and sh*t away from a fight. Every watch Syd fight dumb*ss…go to hockeyfights.com and I tell you he’ll beat anyone’s ass any day!

I’m a big Pens fan but Neal should of been kicked out in the third period. He was the reason the game went out of control in the last 5 mins. I still don’t know why the Pens got Asham. Waste of a line up spot with him. All that said, unfortunately, Asham will probably get one game suspension and a $2500 fine. The suspensions handed out by Shannahan are a waste of time. I still don’t see the “changing player behavior” as he said when he got the job. Seems like the game is more violent and players are going after each other every time they want. I gotta give it to the Flyers, they are the better team, solid hockey all around. Bryz is their weakest link so if they can get the defense going they shouldn’t have any problem sweeping the Pens and going to Cup finals.

    • themohel - Apr 15, 2012 at 8:35 PM

Very well said in all aspects. Nice to see a level-headed fan (from any city)!

  31. bluesrawesome - Apr 15, 2012 at 6:54 PM

This is sad. Just the playoffs in general wether it be sharks pens or Ottawa. WHERE THE HE’LL IS THE RESPECT? B before this game I didn’t think the pens were dirty players now I do. The pens showed they Arnt men because men fight with respect men don’t pull hair cheap shot people than skate away.Ash wow this isn’t the first timeremember when he knocked a guy out and did that sleeping action with his hands wow just sad these are the guys you want of the league. As for Neal the same thing can be said. Shannahan started it all by not suspending Weber so the players took advantage of it. Shannohan better start suspending or their will many injuries even refs trying to break it up sad.

    • michiganhockey11 - Apr 16, 2012 at 12:59 PM

There’s no respect anymore, because the league is disciplining players for the results, not the action itself. Player A gives Player B a dirty hit, but B isn’t hurt or leaves the game, so A only gets a fine. B’s team is still pissed to all end about the hit, not the result and it escalates from there. Of course this frustration is going to boil over. An enforcer can’t work today with the instigator rule. Can’t protect a guy/make a guy answer the bell for doing something utterly stupid.

The hair pulling, if true, that’s complete bush league. Where doesn he think he is, a 5th grade gym class at an all girls school? He needs to hand over his man card for that one.

Sid needs to grow a pair and actually throw punches during a fight for once, not after the linesman breaks it up. That’s chicken sh__ right there.

  32. bubba19698 - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:02 PM

Listen to the cryers whine about how ruff it was today!! Awe i thought you gyners liked that kinda stuff? There is an old saying that the Flyers always say, you might beat us on the score board but you wont be the same team the rest of them, being as the flyers usually lose in the playoffs as they have since 1975 i believe. You won and your fans are still crying, Cindy and the boys play to ruff today? I hope wed they call up mac and let him rearrange Talbots face, or Giroux!!

  33. crashtheboards55 - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:12 PM

As a pens fan i am extremely embarrassed by what happened today. Asham should be done for 50 games for that. No need to hit anyone in the throat ever. Neal was reckless and he should be suspended too. I hope the league looks at this and sends a message. Im a hockey fan first and foremost. No one should ruin the integrity of the game no matter who they are and what team they play for.

      Bruin Fans, please take note.

      • supercoop8 - Apr 16, 2012 at 12:13 PM

        how lonely are you??

  34. eaglesw00t - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:13 PM

JPsst… Bubba, the Flyers won. Talk as much trash as you like. Whine all you want. Make as many excuses as you can. I’ll just continue looking at the scoreboard and laughing at you.

    • bubba19698 - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:38 PM

Even if you dispose of my Pens you aren’t going far!! the Rangers have your number just like the flyers have the Pens! Yea were getting outplayed, we peeked at the wrong time, what jacks me up is the play gets gooned up a bit and every idiot that thinks he’s tough all because he puts a cryers jersey on whines because the game got to ruff and wants everyone suspened and fined, I guess ya’ll take after that coach pete and all the whining he did!! thats a fact!!!

  35. id4joey - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:15 PM

Whiners are not loosing and whiners are not winning. Bryz has been giving up bad goals and Fleury has been absolutely terrible. That’s the difference. You win championships with superb goaltending and solid d.

  36. feva4theflava - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:25 PM

As a pens fan I think asham should be out the remainder of the playoffs which will effectively equate to a one game suspension.

  37. phillyaces - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:28 PM

No need to go back and forth with them. Cindy and Ginny will be done and then they have to watch a AA baseball team for 4 months until football starts. Plus they have only been hockey fans for 6 years since they threatened to move the franchise since no one showed up to watch those bottom dwellers. The Pittsburgh model right?

    • bubba19698 - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:44 PM

Same old filthy BS, different filthydelphia idiot!!

  38. jucam1 - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:40 PM

Bubba much like SydGina you are hoping for the Rangers to take care of your teams business…. Pathetic, the Flyers owned u all regular season, they owned and out classed you in the playoffs, and you and your girlfriend Syd can hide behind other players or the Rangers all you want but in the end the truth is you’re both cowards who are getting schooled….. Have fun watching the Pirates or waiting for the Rapesberger this year cause SydGina and his bs team are done

    • bubba19698 - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:51 PM

Actually i was hoping to come to filthy and watch the dog fights! Like i can’t see we arent playing well, outclassed is a very strong statement for any filthy fans!, Coward? why get personal? O thats right any time we mention the Rangers it strikes a nerve doesn’t it?

      • sweezz - Apr 15, 2012 at 8:13 PM

No. But the Flyers playing the Rangers is assuming the Caps, Devils, and Sens all lose. But I’m glad to see you threw in the towel when you team is still alive. Great fans come from Pittsburgh I guess.

      • bubba19698 - Apr 15, 2012 at 8:54 PM

So there have been 3 teams in the history of pro hockey to come back from 3-0, and the only other pro team was the bosox.in the history of all sports! don’t be a moron, as much as i’d like to sit here and dream that it will be 3-3 I am a realist and am just hoping for a at least one win to start, and even I will admit the flyers have dominated the play, and have the pens number so far. Another idiot flthy fan!!

  39. dcdangles - Apr 15, 2012 at 7:48 PM

Pens are a joke. I’m shocked too. I thought they were a well rounded team and poised to make a deep run this year.

But no. Instead they decided to embark on one of the biggest choke jobs I’ve witnessed in quite a while. They are an embarrassment right now. And I love it.

Neal and Asham are trash. Hope they both get suspended.

I wish Hartnell had had a chance to break Crosby’s nose, but no – a teammate had to save him and finish a fight Crosby started.

    Laughable.

  40. xarnthal - Apr 15, 2012 at 8:10 PM

Pens are the joke of the NHL. Neal deserves a suspension, Asham a playoff ban, not that it will last much longer.
Best thing for the Pens this game was Letang going after Timonen. Then he got booted from the game which killed the game for the Pens.

Their coach is fired, their goalies are traded, and Malkin will want out because he’s tired of listening to Crosby cry about everything.
Everything about the Pens is just pathetic right now.

  41. caps247 - Apr 15, 2012 at 8:24 PM

Saying that the playoffs this year has “gotten out of hand” is a complete understatement. It’s pathetic, a complete joke. I mean, sure, the playoffs are supposed to contain a lot more physicality, but seriously? We got stuff like that already in STL vs SJS, DET vs NSH, etc. There’s so much dirty plays (especially after the whistle) that goes on in BOS vs WSH that doesn’t even get called, and when the caps do the slightest thing they immediately get called for a penalty. (if you don’t believe me search up Braden Holtby’s roughing call when Thomas punched a cap in the face and got away, and Alexander Semin getting gang banged by 3 Bruins in a corner after a whistle and even thrown against the walls; no whistle, of course.) It’s a joke, nothing more or less.

Everybody expected a good game series Between PHI and PIT, but is it even a “good” game anymore? Some players are damaging the integrity of hockey, and of course I’m a hockey fan first. If someone on the Caps like Ovechkin were to pull of a real dirty hit, I would agree he be suspended. (oh, but I forgot — Shanny and everybody else refs included just about hate the Caps, so he might as well be suspended well into next season.)

Blysma is a joke of a coach and the out of control play is a direct result of him. The Flyers are taking hits to make plays and the Pens are trying to hurt people. Bring out the brooms.

Why didn’t he get tossed like the dude in Blackhawks game the other night?
